I’ve always wanted to talk about how weird it was scrolling through reddit and then suddenly seeing myself on the front page. I was banned from reddit for talking about politics (I am anti trump) on the air force reddit so I wasn’t even able to comment on a post about me.

For some backstory, I was returning from a Halloween cruise and it was the only clean shirt I had left (I was planning on wearing it during the cruise as there were no children allowed on the cruise and with the theme I thought it would get a few laughs or at least start a conversation). I never did though and doing laundry on a cruise was quite expensive (I think 50 dollars per load or something like that). I tried to hide the shirt as best I could throughout the day as I do think it was slightly inappropriate to wear in a public setting.

For the record, I love all the comments roasting me and I laughed all fucking day reading them!

Anyways, I have always wanted to publicly talk about this and in my search for reddit alternatives I found lemmy so here we are. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

I hate this “culture” (?) of recording/photographing strangers and posting them online, but on the other hand this is sooo funny. I’m sorry it happened to you lmao.

It’s absolutely invasive and (almost always, even though people think they could remedy this with a simple sign) against the law in Europe.

So… you sound like a nice dude, so just so you know, there are people in the goth subculture that do not appreciate that joke (and its translations). For different reasons, but the majority find it fetishizing and sexist. I opened saying you look like a nice dude because I don’t think that’s your intention, or the intention of most here commenting, but that’s how many goth people feel and… well, in case you really want to meet goth people, that might be actually causing the opposite effect (that is, your shirt driving them off).

    SPOILER: It’s the sleeping dude.

    Just kidding!! Welcome to Lemmy.

Haven’t read all the comments here but I hope some are of welcome. This is a safe space for lovers of goth tiddies.

804 upvotes is epic in this land so all I can say is there’s your welcome.

I feel dirty any time I lose my spine and peek back at a favorite Reddit sub or two. It’s so gross now.

I’m still figuring this place out myself.

    It’s a journey. Again: welcome.

Clockwork prince by Cassandra Clare. I found the three book series at a thrift store and got though the first book on the cruise and was working on the second.

If you like fantasy, romance and a bit of mystery. It wasn’t anything amazing but I found it for a few bucks at a thrift store and it’s held my attention so far. Apparently there are a ton of books in the series.

Why do dudes that fetishize “”“goth”“” girls all look exactly like you would expect them to.

I mean none of the alternative people I know are into being fetishized like that. In fact they absolutely hate it.

Having a preference isn’t automatically fetishizing people and there’s a world of difference between the two. I have a preference for big boobs but I didn’t even consider pursuing my now ex until i overheard her having a heart to heart with a troubled friend I was very close too.

So we’re not allowed to be attracted to large breasted goth women? Are they condemned to live lonely lives since no ones allowed to be into them?

If going for well read people with a sense of ethics that I can easily converse with is fetishizing people then it’s alot more positive term than you make it sound. Maybe more people should fetishize each other.
