they will detect your alternate account through fingerprinting you
it’s where I am currently, unable to use any of my 100% wholesome and positively contributing accounts because I shared the opinion of “Oh no, anyways” on a burning Tesla dealership post, got banned from world news with no explanation, asked for elaboration and did not receive it, and then continued to post in that sub with another account.
did I ban evade? yes. did I first attempt to find out why I was banned? yes. was I ignored and thus continued to participate with other accounts, being careful to say nothing even close to provocative with those accounts? yes.
didn’t matter. they identified it as the same account, they banned it.
I just found out about this too, but on Samsung phones you can install an app on the “secure folder” and that’s basically another device ID so even if you install the app there it doesn’t ban you.
Recently changed my phone, and while my new phone is completely reddit free, I tried this “secure folder” thing on my old phone(installed the official app via apk but patched to remove ads) that already was banned with a completely new account and so far it’s working well, I’ve left a few comments and such and haven’t been shadowbanned.
Now I’ll probably won’t post or do much on it anyways, I’m committing to use it less and less, but I can’t really confidently say that Lemmy fills out all communities as Reddit does
Yeah me too. Honestly I like knowing that I CAN use it if needed, specially if there’s an obscure IT question I might need help with. But having it on a whole other phone let’s me not want to use it because it would mean having a whole other device to take care of battery and ughh you lost me there , so that’s my compromise, I keep it on my desk turned off until needed
I’m not at that level of need right now. I think I will be satisfied browsing information on the topic for now. But seriously, thank you. That is very kind.
I was watching a “Town Hall” sort of thing on YouTube with the founders behind the reboot. They seem like the sort of people who are too rich not to be detached from the perspectives of the common person. So I think you’re probably right.

It’s not that. There’s some really good places if you need solutions. For example, the home networking subreddit is a godsend for home network issues
How do you patch to remove ads?
Get the apk from apk mirror and then patch it using ReVanced manager
I recognize this as English.
I’ll have to look into everything you said here. I may be old, but I’m always game to learn new tricks. Thanks.
I can go into detail lol DM me if you need help!

This is too much effort. I’ll wait and see if the Digg reboot is worth using.

That one looks fun too, hopefully they can end the monopoly Reddit has
It won’t be. It can’t be. It will have to monetize, then it will have to restrict, and you end up with the same problems Reddit has.

Use a different email and a different browser. Turn off IP tracking in settings. You may even need to use a VPN.
or, yaknow… just fuggen leave that shitshow and be free right here
