Ever been camping on a hike? You need to do some basic things that naturally come hp as you go. You don’t need a ton of things, so it isn’t too hard to keep track of stuff on a set schedule. Natural changes in light and weather prompt for action, and you get to look around and explore.

Monthly bills, complicated requirements for insurance, forcing my sleep schedule to fit the rest of the world, trying not to fidget when sitting for hours on end at a desk, keeping track of eveeyone’s names. Those are the things that make life difficult for me. I’m focring myself through it, but it sucks and I only need medication because I am on someone else’s schedule.

If I ever retired I would not need medication. I did fine at simple jobs that didn’t pay enough before getting diagnosed. Hell, sometimes I take leave when my wife and kid are traveling and don’t bother taking meds. Everything important gets done and I actually accomplish quite a bit of optional stuff as long as I can do it on my schedule.

A world where people with ADHD thrive would be perfectly fine for non-ADHD people too. The examples of figuring out new things would get passed to non-ADHD people and is passed down and refined. That is actually how societies have worked until industrialization where difficulty following a regimented schedule and so many things to keep track of made ADHD a disorder.

The people I’ve worked with in tech from Scotland and England who have lived in the US long term but without becoming citizens don’t even use the term. Honestly most people don’t really use labels, just refer to someone in tech being ‘from a country’ when it comes up whether they became citizens or not.

That said, if everyone stuck to basic facts and focussed on clarity rather than content, the world would be a mega boring place.

I’m just saying they should be more clear about the content in situations where clarity is necessary. It isn’t like science is boring because the communication about black holes and nuclear explosions is clear and direct in those settings. Science is the best example of blending clarity where it is needed and humor/sarcasm/throwing shade for fun when clarity isn’t as important.

Migrant worker is the term for expats who aren’t white.

I’ve never heard the term used for anyone with dark skin or from anywhere other than the US, Canada, or western Europe.

It amazes me how accepting most people are of ads. I suspect Google’s going to win, and their ultimate contribution to humanity will be forcing ads into everything.

Also the vast majority of human communication, which is so full of implications instead of stating things directly to determine who is part of their in group or to avoid conflict that people have a hard time just being clear and concise when they really should be.

A crummy history of ads on the internet:

Starts out mostly used in formal fields and universities. Very usable!

Businesses get on board and start the horrible ad infestation, leading to scammers and popup hell duw to misuse of a feature.

Ad blockers start to reign in that shit, and the better browsers kill the popup infestation at the source. Pretty darn usable at this point, except for internet explorer.

Google, an ad company, decides to make a browser so they can do all the malicious advertising and tracking on the backend.

uBlock Origin is too effective at blocking the browser based tracking and advertising so google decided to do the manifest 3 or whatever that bullshit is called to openly force ads onto users.

Based on history, I expect chrome to die a slow death due to the backlash from the manifest crap, but could be wrong since people are apparently fine with ads being forced into streaming services.
