No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•With regards to cutlery, do you prefer a spoon or a fork for eating cake?
1·1 month agoGotta agree. What kind of aristocrats are we dealing with here who eat cake with cutlery? 😁

22·1 month agoI just solved this exact issue after living with it for a few months.
For me it was a bad PSU, voltage drop probably stopping the HDDs and SSDs, which knocked over the Kernel

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it actually healthy for people to have a place to confess things anonymously?
2·1 month agoCathartic maybe, coin flip on whether it’s therapeutic or not.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it actually healthy for people to have a place to confess things anonymously?
4·1 month agoWell, it could go either way.
One of the reasons therapists exist is they’re not blank voids like the internet.
They can respond in human ways, be real and realistic. Help put the confession into context of a person’s life.
Without that, it’s a role of the dice. Some people will come away feeling lighter.
Some will come away with a sensation of having talked themselves into believing they’re a piece of ****.
I guess that’s why AITA is such a popular format.
But I’m in North central South Carolina
Cool, then I’d only have to drive south, around and north to get to you 😃
They were certainly happy, entitled and loved. I shall miss them forever.
Thank you. That thought brought a few tears. Much appreciated.
Thanks for sharing their story, love to their memory. I love the character of our little murder-friends!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you could "skill trade", what would you trade?
2·1 month agoI’m with you.
I’ll trade my skill with DOS6.2 for the ability to fix my own car brakes. That’d be enough.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Some people live their lives afraid of being different than others and afraid of being the same.
4·1 month agoWell, it’s hard to judge how stupid people are.
People often mistake disagreement for being stupid. Or someone doing something dumb as being stupid, even though everyone does something dumb sometimes.
Better to judge on actions, rather than whatever guess we have of how stupid someone is.

Lefty Memes@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Falling for CIA propaganda in 2026 is a skill issue 😬English
152·1 month agoNo it isn’t. You might be able to interpret a study that way, if you choose to.
Actual science doesn’t work that way, it works to exclude choice and bias.
It’s very easy to find westerners who don’t hate brown people and disprove the idea. There’s literally thousands of them in every town in my country. The racists are a real problem, they’re not even a majority and they’re causing real issues.

232·1 month agoI sat in a room in the UK this week, with 19 other people, with love and tears and anger about what is happening in Iran.
One person in this group is Iranian and another is from Turkey, so also impacted and scared.
I strongly reject the idea that westerners hate brown people as strongly as when I reject the people who claim racism isn’t a thing in the UK.
Hyperbole serves no one when it obscures Truth.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Assuming an average value of $500k per-house, a millionaire could own two houses and a billionaire could own the entire neighborhood
33·1 month agoMy favourite way to describe this is “the difference between a million and a billion is about a billion.”
