That’s probably what happened. However the job description as written was kind of silly.

Back when I was still on Reddit I remember someone sharing a job posting calling for 10 years of experience in a 5 year old language. I don’t know if it was real or not but it’s typical of the crazy requirements for those jobs.
I threw my back out at 27 bending over to tie my shoe. It’s a magical age.
I use the Realcalc scientific calculator app at least 5 times a week. As others have mentioned GPS functionality for driving is great. I also use my phone’s GPS to get waypoints for the location of fixtures for my job as a telecommunications facilities designer.
Having a high quality camera is also handy for work and personal stuff.
I use it for the same reasons as you and I also follow local news outlets and local government since Twitter went to crap. I follow a few special interest groups but political posts, probably by bots is making most of these groups unusable. I couldn’t care less about the content. I go to other platforms for that
I’ll read the article if it’s not behind a paywall. I often don’t finish them because most articles are poorly written.
The only way we watched is on my wife’s Ipad and it was because we weren’t watching live. We were about 10 minutes behind the live stream. I tried to join on my Google TV and Netflix would crash.
Best summary I’ve read.
I definitely agree about the vibe being different in the mid 90s to the early 00s. Lots of passion and energy about the tech. I don’t think it’s all gone but it’s definitely nowhere near as intense.
Very few people can recognize that level of dissonance. They have twisted stuff in their minds so long it’s impossible to see it.
I have so many questions.
This is way too accurate.
Most folks who say this don’t realize which side they fall on.

I’ve always tipped 20% for good service and 15% for average or below. I usually don’t tip less that 15% unless it’s just abysmal or I’m picking up a to go order in which case I usually do 8-10%. Several of the restaurants around me have changed from 15% / 20% on the suggested tip to 20% / 25% and a few have even added 30%. And I’ve also noticed the suggested tips are calculated on the after tax amount, and some restaurants that charge a credit card processing fee calculate the suggested tip on that amount. I tip on pretax and pre-fee totals and cap at 20%. If it get worse, my eating at restaurants will start becoming less and less.
I agree but I doubt if this were a well written article it would get anywhere near the exposure it’ll get on YouTube.
“Broke” isn’t really tye right word. The protocol exists and could be used but companies like Google added proprietary atuff that made it impossible to use it as an open universal “system”.
Didn’t we already have this for a breid shining moment with XMPP before Google and others broke it?
I work for a mid size telco. VoIP has been the predominate method for voice communications going on 10+ years it was just behind the scenes.
