oh wait you did in the second part, oh well you get a pass. this whole thread is “Wedding like conservatives” which, like, yeah i get it, I don’t either, but it’s really boring to read

Just to be sure, have you lived at the same address for all these years? I haven’t, so it’s hard to compare then & now for me.

31·7 months agogood luck! it’s British comedy… most of the jokes you’ve heard are stand-alone jokes wrapped up alongside with a hundred other jokes that you haven’t heard… for various reasons.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Is it a prison break if the prisoners have been unjustly detained? Who decides when it is a hostage rescuse situation?
2·7 months agothe term won’t be “prison break” but will depend on the jurisdiction that holds the person. if you are being detained by the state police, you’ll get something like “fleeing and eluding” but it depends on your local laws. if you’re in US federal custody then it depends on what they charge you with and how they detain you.
Fleeing would be a separate charge itself. the eighth amendment could get it thrown out but you’d still be able to be charged with it and would at least need to stand trial to be charged within X amount of time.
if, however, you’re illegally detained and the constitution is clearly being violated, then the perpetrators will need to be held accountable. don’t worry about it. you can just wait for the government checks and balances system to save you. they’ll be here any minute now. aaaany minute now.
for classes of stars!
the thing is… there’s gotta be at least a million Americans or more who unironically would say this
I tried going down this line of thinking too, but any assumption you make is predicated on the belief that they would use means that we are familiar with. Just because we do not know of a way to do such and such does not mean it does not exist. This post is referring to a fundamental epistemic problem.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think Lemmy has a culture separate from Reddit or is it basically the same?
39·7 months agoCongrats on being an exception to the penulatimate part of your comment then? My point is that “hivemind” is already a thought-terminating cliche. If you’re using it while seeking in-depth conversation, what do you expect to get? Hence me saying you “might as well be” such as such – which is very different from treating you like an enemy. Seems like you gave a bit of that hostility back though! And why? Because this conversation revolves around a thought-terminating cliche like “hivemind”.

I’m sorry but who says that all of the good botany questions have been answered??
