I watched the entire “Kissing Booth” trilogy with a friend recently. They’re cute teen rom-coms and I enjoyed all of the movies and characters. The writing is corny, but it seemed to intentionally have a kind of theater club vibe to me. I kept thinking the cast must have had a lot of fun.
Should it be rated higher? No idea. I think ratings are stupid tbh.
Yeah sorry, I did edit the title from just herpes to genital herpes after like the first two comments. I didn’t want the post to just be all edit notes. I don’t know which type she has and I didn’t initially understand the distinction. I know she has it down there and takes daily antivirals. I think the general information is still useful however because there’s a heavy stigma and the uniformed wouldn’t likely understand the distinctions like me.
You, her, and I seem to have pretty similar backgrounds. Although my church was more about “love thy neighbor” than penitence and punishment.
Upon further, clearer headed reading, it seems like it’s actually not as big a deal as we were raised to believe.
As far as her intentions go, I’m not really concerned about that much. I don’t turn anyone away, that’s just not who I am. I was just anxious writing this and a bit of my paranoia spilled out. I have no real reason to doubt her intentions, just trauma from people I should’ve doubted more.
After Reddit killed Apollo, I refused to participate and only used it for news and to see discussions about random stuff. I’d heard about Lemmy back then, but it sounded like it was Reddit for Reddit rejects which didn’t sound appealing. After the big Bluesky migration, I tried it out and I was more open to the idea of the fediverse. Lemmy ended up scratching the Reddit itch when I tried it, even though there’s a serious problem with sub discovery that I think holds it back.
I ultimately don’t think I would’ve left it on the table. For better or for worse, I’m pretty stubborn and reckless when strong emotions are involved. I was kinda hoping people would say it’s fine, which seems to essentially be the case.
Oh that makes sense, I kinda remember hearing about that before. I didn’t ask which kind she had and I’m not sure if there’s a significant difference. I must’ve glossed over that stuff, since I was more focused on figuring out the risk. I just remember learning in school that it was a cause for concern and she’s very insecure about it and she takes daily antivirals. I figured if you need medicine, it must be bad. I guess it could just be good old abstinence fear mongering propaganda. I’ll have to read more thoroughly.

The idea that a very small wavelength would cause a black hole doesn’t really make sense to me since I thought a black hole requires mass. I’m no physicist, so I don’t really know.
However, a search about light with a Planck wavelength came up with this result which seems to claim that eventually the wavelength would become so small as to no longer be capable of holding information and would essentially do nothing.
Aliases have already existed for a long time. I go by my middle name out of work and by my first name at work. I also work with a guy who does the opposite. There’s no reason to really have it be so official.
There’s a YT video by Fern that goes over a story about some german cops burning a drunken black man alive and covering it up. Non-copaganda crime documentaries exist, although they’re rare. I love crime media, but I always take it with a grain of salt since the genre is generally pretty biased.
My taste in music is dictated entirely by whether or not I think a song is fun to sing. I keep everything in one eclectic super playlist. These are a few of the songs I’ll skip if I have normal people in my car, so they’re a bit weird or at least have an uncommon sound/vibe.
On philosophical level I believe in predetermination since literally everything is one chain reaction that could hypothetically be calculated, but I think it’s completely random and not constructed by any known higher force.
That said I don’t get too worked up over jerks and assholes because they’re all deeply miserable and insecure. The way people act reflects what they expect of the world around them. Hostile people live in hostile worlds and the same for judgmental and hateful people.
Whenever a non-stranger asks how I’m doing my go to reply is “Eh. I’m about as miserable as I usually am.” other than that, I have a bad habit of ending sentences with “eh?” or “ya know?” when speaking
Toothpaste tubes and similar containers are intentionally designed to be inconvenient to get the full contents out of.
For society? Largely doom. Innovation is slowing as money is moved more into control than improvement and inequality will grow.
For tech, I think AR will be the next big thing and may get a foothold within 5-10 years. The main barriers right now are minimization and power storage. If technology like graphene super capacitors can finally bloom and computation chips continue to shrink and become more efficient, then I can see a sizable market of people willing to wear AR glasses for a more convenient smart phone experience.
“A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out” by Panic! At the Disco. It’s been my favorite album since it came out. I never get tired of it. Specifically “Camisado” is my favorite track on it.
I have something like your problem. I try to be really patient and caring, but it’s gotten to the point where I have a reputation among my friends and family for it. Now I have more people to support than I can handle emotionally. My battery isn’t dead, but now it’s like blowing a breaker if the draw on any given day is too much.
Oh I didn’t even realize you were talking about games lmao even though you mentioned newgrounds. I was thinking strictly for animation. That makes perfect sense for games.
I was only a kid in Flash’s heyday, so I’ve never dealt with it creatively. I didn’t even know it supported vector graphics. You can animate SVGs though, but I don’t know if there’s a good tool for it though. I’ve only ever made SVG animations by hand with SMIL.
Also wouldn’t blender be better suited for vertex colored animations? I feel like in either case the point is lost though since it’ll have to be rasterized eventually.
Maybe if those ratings came from a movie theater exit poll, then I’d agree. Instead it’s like most other self reported ratings online. Essentially no one enters their rating except for: the people who really liked it, people who really didn’t like it, wannabe critics, weirdos who like to spend their time rating things despite never having seen them, and bots. The vast majority of people don’t rate movies because they don’t care enough. In my opinion ratings are just easily manipulated data that often exists just to reinforce conformity of opinion.
If you look at the ratings for the first “Kissing Booth” movie, there’s tons of reviews that essentially say the lead actress wasn’t hot enough. Then you consider that despite the first movie being rated terribly, the company thought it was actually well enough received for them to make two more movies.
