Ubuntu started and stayed great for many years. Now I feel it’s coasting on the name it rightly earned. It was my daily driver but I left after frustration with firefox snap and some networking malarkey I don’t care to recall. There are just better maintained distros out there.
And Switzerland just closed their instance in part due to what they claim is a declining user base.
I’ve only seen Mastodon slowly creeping up, not decline.

Sometimes avoiding corporatism or maintaining your privacy feels like an accessibility issue (I’m looking at you, open source projects who direct their community to Discord).

111·20 days agoYou didn’t mention: caring for elderly parents, getting out of an abusive relationship, working two jobs, having a disabled kid, having a chronic illness, being in a legal fight with a neighbour, the list goes on. How many hours a week does one of those take? What if you have two?
On the third hand, destroying a shitpost is like wasting a rancid can of beans that’s on display at a museum.
You can automate the same way with torrents, can’t you? I mean, you can even use indexers of both types at the same time.

How do you tell whether you’re looking at a radio-controlled clock though?
Also, just because they’re useful doesn’t make them necessary.
Watches that can get alerts can show digital time. So, chalk another point up for not learning analog time.
Learning how a sundial works would teach them more than leaning how an analog clock works, in that regard.
Companies don’t just think about paying customers, they also consider future paying customers. Making an accepting environment can broaden appeal and, at least to me, it makes sense why they would make this change. Don’t want a beard? Don’t choose a beard. Simple.

What’s the downside here? Whatever game it suggests can be quickly checked.
And even then, the same physical red can look darker, lighter, washed out, more vivid etc. depending on the surrounding colours. I mean, maybe what I see as white and gold, someone else sees as blue and black.
