  • They think it literally does not matter, and sales kinda reinforce this. The game was an enormous hit on release, but I think it gradually eats away at the faith of the customers as their experience falls to shit in the endgame where the rushed development is glaringly obvious. That’s gotta add up and will eventually have an impact cause they sure as shit aren’t learning the right lessons. Always remember the best outcome for the top deciders is the quickest biggest buck, and they will throw ANYTHING under the bus that challenges that. Especially thoughtful and rich game design which takes time and love to produce right.

Ah shit man, you eventually kinda get used to it. Life’s really about enjoying and experiencing the moment you’re in as best you can, as often as you can, as long as you’re able. If you can manage that, you’ll at least know you have savored those smudges in the rear-view. A piece of advice is to make sure you have devices to record and hold on to as much as you can, back things up always! Don’t be afraid/surprised if going back and seeing something you though you had lost completely in those records makes you feel strongly emotional.

  • Hey fellow 41 year old dude, I also cry at this stuff. It seems especially pronounced when rewatching nostalgic productions with well written characters and conflict (I will not apologize for crying all the time during Avatar the last Airbender, as an adult man). No, I do not know what this means in regard to healthy emotional processing, it just is what it is. Mind you I also get unjustifiably angry or emotional in other contexts when I feel connected to the fate of a character and they experience injustice. So this might be a general marker for some level of empathy or maybe just emotional mimicry. Thanks for posting, I think this is something people should be okay talking about more.

Edit: I wanted to add this also occurs in other mediums, like video games. Cyberpunk 2077 was like a revolution in awareness for me, but largely because I experience DID to a degree in my life, and it really flipped the table of my understanding of myself seeing what I experience through the eyes of others.
