1·8 days agoULA = Unique Local Address, non routable address scheme in IPv6 for use in local networks
SLAAC = Stateless Address Autoconfiguration, a process in IPv6 that allows a host to assign itself an unique IP by listening to other traffic to determine the network ID and then creating the host ID
ICMP = Internet Control Message Protocol, these a specific messages that allow for higher coordination and control rather that data exchange, like ping or dhcp.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The only time you ever actually "take a poop" is when you fly on an airplane, or ride on a ship.English
3·14 days agoDefiantly not going into a restroom and taking a poop, if there is a poop I’m not touching it! I came to leave a poop.

1·2 months agoIf I recall there is an FDA rule that says you can’t sell a food item that contains a non edible thing that could cause someone to choke.
Edit: Here it is
Section 402(d)(1) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act provides that confectionery having partially, or completely imbedded therein, any non-nutritive object is adulterated unless FDA has issued a regulation recognizing that the non-nutritive object is of practical functional value to the confectionery product and would not render the product injurious or hazardous to health.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Recommend me a USB to SATA adapter that actually works on LinuxEnglish
1·2 months agoDitto, I’ve one that will power a full size sata hdd (external power supply), use it for backups to magnetic, never had an issue. Got it years ago from a defunct computer shop, so no link but I Willi post the model later and put a ssd in and check TRIM.
Edit: the enclosure I have is a ORICO 3588US3 if you use it with a ssd you don’t need the external power supply, I put a ssd in it and ‘sudo hdparm -I /dev/sdb’ reports ‘Data Set Management TRIM supported’

8·2 months agoA bit of pain but you can still see FB, you have to hit the [x] in the top right of the login nag then it will let you scroll through several photos/posts before popping up again (wont work on the main feed page just photos/posts, not sure about liked pages). When it does pop up again it wont have the [x] so click the browsers refresh and the [x] will show up again but FB will still be on the same photo/post. Rinse, repeat.

9·3 months agoNest Thermostat Gen 1 or Gen 2 running NoLongerEvil firmware. You can pick up a gen 2 on eBay for 20-30 USD. It only takes 5 min to load the firmware and there is a HA native integration. Rock solid hardware with no cloud, no google, and it works great with HA. Note that the gen 1 and gen 2 are pre Google buyout of Nest. There is also a cloud hosted dashboard if you want BUT there is no cloud self-hosted docker server and no cloud HA only version as well.
Edit: Nest is WiFi

Nope, Nice try!

Yikes, that guy had untreated sylphilis then took 1100% of the daily Manganese dose and more than a lethal dose of salt. I’m shocked he survived.
