I have a really wide monitor, so I end up with wasted space on the sides of most websites, so vertical tabs lets me maximize my vertical space on the screen.

It’s mostly working again! The only thing not working for me right now is the posts tab on a user’s profile.
I still do
I switched to Omnivore which is open source and has a Firefox plugin.
I still use it. Some things don’t work right anymore, like posting single images (although multi image posts still work). As long as you are or have ever been a mod, it still works fairly well.
Connect is another good one that is similar to Boost
I have the opposite problem, I used desktop site once, and now for that website it always gives me desktop mode even though I don’t want it to anymore.
When you change the icon, a message pops up saying that you will end up with two icons. My launcher lets me hide icons, so I hid the standard icon and only have the changed one visible.
This is the warning popup when you change your icon. It’s normal to have two icons, just hide the one you don’t want.
I had the same issue, I just long pressed on the original and selected hide.
Didn’t know that. Thanks!
Connect is way better than jerboa
The free version of BW is sufficient for most users. The big draw for the paid version is TOTP
I tried Sync and immediately uninstalled it. While I wait for Boost, I’ve been using Connect, which seems to be as close for Lemmy as what Boost was for reddit. I’m looking forward to seeing Boost for Lemmy once it comes out though.
I am still using Boost for reddit. Third party apps still work if you are or have ever been a mod. The only thing not working so far is that I can’t upload images to posts.
I tried jerboa but had too many issues, so I’ve been using the mobile website while I wait for Boost.
Same here. My understanding is that reddit is quietly allowing 3rd party apps for anyone that is or was previously a moderator because of the mod tools that the official app is lacking. As a former mod, apparently I get to keep it, at least until they change their mind.
I have jerboa installed but it was buggy so I mostly use a browser (Vivaldi)
It’s also a good reminder for us to share it with people that may not be tech savvy enough to make the switch.
