It makes a lot more sense once you consider where you are starting from: a rock hurtling around the sun at breakneck speed (29.8 km/s). You can not really bullseye something when you are going almost 30 km per second sideways to it.

Fun Loops ▶️@midwest.social•Finnish trains are very tall! 🇫🇮🚂English
3·1 year ago“5.3 m (17 ft 5 in) in the centre” That is indeed very tall. Most trains in Europe are 4.650 m tall or smaller.
senders can only be easily forged if you control the senders mail server or if they don’t use best practices for running a mail server.
See also:there are cryptographic signatures on almost all mails sent by large mail providers these days, which makes it very hard to just forge an email that will hold up to closer examination with the help of the provider. so basically the IT techs of the company would need to be on board with whatever the perpetrator is doing, for them to get away with it.
The situation isn’t that different in Germany: emails can be used as evidence in court, though they aren’t as strong as evidence as say: a signed letter. There is also the issue with proving that an email actually arrived, but i would assume that in this case that is already covered.
So what do you think when you work with HeLas?

Linux@lemmy.ml•[SOLVED] First time installing linux (Debian). Got this error. Please helpEnglish
4·2 years agoSo it still uses a MSDOS partition table, interesting. This usually only happens on systems that do not support EFI at all.
Is your BIOS and main board fairly old per chance?

Linux@lemmy.ml•[SOLVED] First time installing linux (Debian). Got this error. Please helpEnglish
5·2 years agoOk, that looks like a fairly standard setup. I guess taking a look at the boot loader itself would be the next step. When you see the Debian bootloader you could try pressing ‘e’ to view what commands it uses internally to boot. The lines starting with “linux” and “initrd” would be most interesting.

Linux@lemmy.ml•[SOLVED] First time installing linux (Debian). Got this error. Please helpEnglish
8·2 years agoHi, it would be useful to know what kind of device you are installing on. For a laptop the model and make would be especially useful. If it is a PC then the drive configuration would be interesting (what kind of drive, how many etc.)

Linux@lemmy.ml•How can I transfer non-steam games between Linux devices.English
14·2 years agoIf they are all installed in the same wine prefix you could back up everything in one go by archiving the “.wine” folder in your home. that will include all applications installed in wine and all settings for those applications.
if you want to separate them into one archive per app you should look into wine prefixes, otherwise you would need to identify every folder a given app created during installation and archive those together manually, which can be very tedious.

Not sure if serious but just in case: why would there be any HF in a lithium ion battery?
