Well it wasn’t made by the US Navy, it doesn’t allow for clearnet traffic, it allows torrenting over the protocol. I’m sure there are other differences too.

I left Lemmy World in favor of my current account due to them defederating from instances. I like to be able to choose what I can and cannot interact with, and SDF doesn’t defederate with anyone.
Lemmy allows for individuals to block instances in the account settings anyway.
AFAIK, lemmy.world defederated from hexbear due to political differences.
There’s a community on Hexbear called mutualaid that’s really nice, but IIRC Lemmy World defederated from Hexbear.

The apps still have to be approved by Apple, and Apple still gets a cut. It’s not actual sideloading, and it’s all done through Apple-approved third party app stores.
You can’t just download an IPA file and install it.
You can use Asahi Linux on an M1 Mac.
Both Windows and Mac come with package managers of sorts. Windows has WinGet and the Windows Store. Mac has the App Store.

Ah. Makes sense. The early days of emulators were something I really enjoyed. One of the reasons I even got into computers was ZSNES (although glitching Pokemon 1st gen was another)
I don’t think an emulator bug (especially from a 90s emulator) should factor into how good a game is.
I’d recommend giving it another shot. It’s one of my favorite games of all time, and the only game I find myself replaying every year.
If you like DDLC, you should try Song of Saya. Just a warning, it can get quite graphic, but the storytelling is amazing.
Also Chrono Trigger if you’re a Final Fantasy fan.
