I opened a fraud report too detailing as best as I could in 1000 characters (maximum limit of the complaint text box) how this scam went down, but I don’t think anything will come of it. Apple just said “thanks, we’ll check it, but won’t reply”

How easy this scam was pulled off pisses me off the most, not the 30 bucks I wasted. A dev can build hype with promises, release a half-cooked app, get people to buy it with some sale tactics, and then disappear.

You logically give devs time to work on the stuff, so by the time you start getting worried of being scammed, the refund window is out.

I’m ranting more about Apple here than the bean devs. You often see other storefronts step up in similar situations to do right by their users.

I bought bean lifetime because all of the promises the dev told us, not because of the current state of the app.

Apple has a refund reason of “My purchase does not work as expected” which does kinda fit here. Thing is, the window to make the claim had expired, and I couldn’t convince them to check it.

I’m still mad Apple wouldn’t refund my bean lifetime sub. I would give that to Voyager, which is one of the few apps actively maintained anymore.

This is a bigger issue to leave it to users imo. Like lemm.ee admin said a few months ago, threads is too fucking big.

Anything they push on the fediverse will be what users see in All. Plus, popular stuff on threads is determined through Facebook’s algorithm, and it will also determine the fediverse recommendations by consequence.

The above is solvable if you block them I guess, but by default it will completely ruin everything.

However, lemmy 0.19 block feature doesn’t work on users of an instance, only posts hosted in an instance. Add to this that Facebook is a cancerous company making all its money from ads. Expect their bots to comment and make posts pushing ads on all instances.

All of this will also mean high workload on mods to regulate the content. Threads doesn’t bring anything good here, and defederation is probably the only way to protect us.

Voyager is pretty good, the UI is basically straight from Apollo. It also has frequent updates.

I wouldn’t recommend bean anymore, half the things never load, and it’s not as fast as other apps have become. I’m gonna check if Apple can refund my lifetime sub lmao.

Just played 4 hours. Not saying whether the game is good or bad, but I’m not seeing the point of the spaceship yet.

It’s looks like merely a medium for the fast traveling mechanic. You can’t really “move” in space (as far as ive tried), and can’t use it to fly within a planet.

I expected being able to manually travel from planet A to planet B and finding cool stuff along the way. If you wanna actually move you need to fast travel.

I also expected to be able to get in my ship and go from place A to place B within the same planet (also finding cool stuff along the way). It seems that also is just done by fast traveling only.

It definitely wasn’t cheap (considering the several open source free lemmy apps), but seeing how fast this app has evolved + your commitment shows that this is gonna be a serious app (and not a side experiment that is suddenly canned).

This is also exactly why I chose lemm.ee as my instance, I’m looking for serious and stable platforms. Commitment quickly runs out for free apps, as I’ve seen many times before. Anyways congrats on the appstore release!
