I dont even like tetris that much, but it has captured the attention of generation after generation.
It’s probably one of the only games you could open in almost any setting and have people wanting to play it.
My precious dog, who doesn’t have much time left, and I spend my days dreading losing.
She’s been with me since I nearly killed myself in college, pulled me out of depression, through graduation, the first date with my wife, our wedding, covid where I feuded with my family for 2 years and had almost nobody, and a move across the country.
We’ve got 3-6 months left together, and I don’t know who I will be with her gone.
We do not deserve dogs.

2·3 months agoSimilar boat, except my wife actually got hooked on FO76 a couple of months back and loved it.
I skip a lot of adaption shows or remakes, so she basically forced me to start it, but I wound up really enjoying it. We’re trying not to binge it all in a day, so I’m only halfway through, but I look forward to watching it.

I see a lot of MMOs being recommended, but I find them to be either shallow in combat or predatory unless you are seeking MMO specific things, so I’m going to point at single player/coop stuff.
Bethesda has a large selection of open world games, but I pretty much assume people have played all of them (Elder Scrolls / Fallout games).
If you are okay with going outside of Fantasy, the Far Cry series has some impressive technology in their older titles. Far Cry 2 is a personal favorite, your PC might be able to handle it.
Borderlands series.
The original Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen holds up. This is probably my best recommendation based on your asks.
Lego Star Wars or the Lego Marvel game.
Fable 1, 2, 3
The Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor / Shadow of War Games were pretty incredible but might be too high-end.
The first Red Dead Redemption might run for you.
Early Dark souls games might run. Maybe 1 or 2.
From here, I would start listing old Star Wars Jedi Knight series games.
I could probably go on, but this is most of the good stuff off the top of my head.
I forgot to add Mass Effect. Great for sci-fi, great leveling, and combat.
101·3 months agoHaving a limited access resource accessible in game that eventually becomes only accessible through microtransactions is freemium abusive game design.
They keep pointing at this like a good thing, and it pisses me off that much more.
There is not an eternal ferrystone, and they clearly designed a game to bottleneck on that resource intentionally.
This statement is an immediate bannable offense in many places, but the 2nd amendment allows for firearm ownership. Many states have stand your ground or home defense laws supporting lethal home defense. In America, our founding is justified by the need for violent resistance against tyrannical governments.
I know these aren’t directly contradictory things, but it feels like doublespeak, the way the topics are viewed.
Defending violence from the bland corporate talking points of non-violent resistance.
People will say the dumbest “violence is never the answer” and then get upset when you point out they clearly don’t believe that.
1·4 months agoNah, 8 is by far the worst of the bunch. 9 is a response to the problems created by 8 and 7 is a relatively good movie outside of reverting the setting.
8 is bad plot mixed with character assassination and intentionally fucks up the flow of a trilogy because Johnson has an ego problem.
Dude literally had them change aspects of 7 so he could make Luke suck in 8, then refused to leave storylines open for J.J to finish the trilogy, even when requested.
