Late Afternoon? I work from home. I shower before going out into the world socially.

Well surely you can agree that letting men into women’s change rooms
If the idea is that that’s a no-no because men are sexually attracted to women, then I must remind you that gay people exist.
If the idea is that men cannot be trusted, then there are many other spaces where men have power that should be examined first.

I can’t imagine why I’d want to put on an informational video and not pay attention.
I listen to music at work.

I think a lot of people are only semi-literate, and many of them don’t realize it. They just think reading is kind of hard and uncomfortable, and don’t know why anyone would choose to do it.
You won’t find as many of them on a text-focused medium like here.

Conservatives are generally a combination of stupid, ignorant, and cruel.

Skyrim. It was at best “fine” for me. I really dislike level scaling. The combat felt unsatisfying. I don’t remember the story. It’s not weird like Morrowind. The magic and enchanting was over-simplified.
But for many people it’s their grand joy. So I guess that’s good for them.

Did not expect caves of qud to be on anyone’s list, as I thought it was pretty niche.
I also really wanted to like the game, but it felt oddly empty. I wanted less lost in the wilderness, less static quests, more dynamic stuff to do and explore.

I have much respect for “it’s not fun for me” and less patience for “it’s bad”. Totally understand why you might not find the games fun.

I remember playing it at a friend’s house and thinking “quake is better”, but the four player local play on one game and TV was an overwhelming factor.

Obviously tastes differ. I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt it deserved the praise.

Talk to them about it like adults? But I gather these are children, so I don’t know.

Work in a big multi national company. not a software company, but I’m on an engineering team.
Leadership makes a lot of noises about AI.
The engineers can’t even use git competently. I’ve suggested quietly maybe we should focus on learning software fundamentals instead of chasing dreams but no one here listens to me.
I was on some website the other day and I opened the browser console for unrelated reasons. They had a giant message there that was like “STOP. If someone asked you to paste something here, you are probably going to be hacked. Do not do anything here unless you know what you’re doing.”
Which, admittedly, is probably good advice.
They just say stuff for results. They have an emotion and they’ll say whatever supports it, even if they said something contradictory earlier. They are, frankly, stupid and dishonest people.
Yes.
Primarily, too much fear response. Fear makes you stupid.
Secondarily, too much in-group loyalty. They’ll do and believe anything if that’s what the group believes.
i am too old to understand “hardcore” as a verb in that sentence. what?
I sort of hate podcasts. I don’t want parasocial relationships. I don’t want to hear in 30 minutes what I could have read in 3, with better options for following up (highlight -> search vs “what did they say? how do you spell that?”)
What point do you think it’s trying to make. Seems obvious to me.
Some people will be much more charitable for victims of violence when the victim is white. Even if the white person is an avowed nazi. But when it’s someone in the out-group, little charity is given.
We shouldn’t be doing more acquisitions. We should be breaking these companies apart.
