that’s not the point, passkeys are not vendor centric, they are a standard. you don’t want to duplicate a passkey for the same reason you don’t want to copy an SSH private key on multiple devices. it’s a security feature that allows disabling the account access in case the device becomes compromised (lost, stolen, infected, etc.)
a very long password that (ideally) is only bound to a single device, requires a second identifier (biometric, PIN, password) and that is phishing resistant.
easy, go at an ATM, get 20$ bills, and then ask people (friends, cashier etc) to change it for smaller or larger bills

35·9 months agodo a blind test between ogg 320kbps which Spotify premium uses and FLAC and tell me your score then
my point is, if you’re not working on that audio, there is no audible difference between two

2012·9 months agowhy all this fuss about lossless audio? Spotify premium is literally indistinguishable from lossless audio for 99.9% of the population and songs (because not all songs will be lossless or are even mastered in a way that makes a difference). granted if…
- you have the right hardware
- you have the ear trained to hear compression
- you picked a song that has audible compression artifacts however small they may be
- you are in a quiet room
- you are actively looking for compression artifacts
you may hear a difference. if you think otherwise, then do a lossy vs lossless blind test and be impressed that you actually cannot hear the difference most of the time (especially without actively looking for the artifacts)
pheww i thought i was talking to an american for a sec

164·10 months agocategorizing sports between women and men separately always seemed weird to me. Why is it not a global ranking? A global ELO system that makes sure every athlete fights other athletes in the same ELO range, doesn’t matter man woman because it’s based on performance/skill instead.

152·1 year agoIt wouldn’t say corruption, I think it’s more that the law around the road was designed with a driver in mind, not with a company or even a robot. the consequences have been thought to hurt a person at fault because at the time only a person could drive

TPM and trusted computing/boot chains are some of the single most important security measures that we’ve had in the last decade. I can agree on the kernel level stuff though that’s a bit bullshit even though I understand why low level access is needed for some anti cheat tasks and DRM prevention. I think there should be APIs provided instead of having to install unknown modules
here we go again with he tariffs. his friends made back some money after the last crash he caused so now he can go back to crashing it
