As a trans person, I feel far safer on Lemmy and mastodon than I ever did on any other social media.

Generally, there’s no need for anything other than uBlock Origin.
Ultimately you will have to make some concessions in regards to privacy. Most people aren’t going to install Signal just to talk to you because it does not fit their use case.
I’m also gen z and from the US, I go to university, and most people who I know use Whatsapp or Discord to communicate. While Whatsapp is not perfect, their messages are end-to-end encrypted, which is much better than most other mainstream platforms (I would honestly say that it is better than Telegram). Discord can at least be accessed through a browser with an email alias.
My preference for communication would be:
Best realistic case: Whatsapp or iMessage (if you have an Apple device)
Reluctantly use: Discord, Instagram, Telegram, SMS, any messenger that can be accessed through the browser without installing an app
Works fine on desktop here, on mobile I just use Newpipe
What do you mean?
I think arkenfox is better because you can get updates faster and automatically.
I always use the Bitwarden auto-fill option in my notification shade. You can enable it in the Bitwarden app settings. You can also change how long it takes for the vault to re-lock itself.
She is not saying that Donald Trump or his supports should not have a chance to speak. She is saying that websites and other social platforms should not amplify their voices above others. Trump and his supporters are known for spreading misinformation that has led to violence, and online platforms need to do something about it. There aren’t any calls to deplatform Biden or liberals because they aren’t the ones that inspire mass shootings, hate crimes, and attempts to overthrow the government. Of course, you have the right to your own opinion regarding the article, but I feel that there are many in the community who have similar thoughts as my own.
I see what you mean, but Mozilla Corp. is ultimately responsible for improving the browser. I don’t see how limiting discussion on their issues would be helpful. I use FireFox as my preferred browser but that doesn’t mean that I think Mozilla is perfect or doesn’t have their own issues.
If you didn’t read it then why did you post about it? What did you see “between the lines?”
How can you distance the browser from the company that maintains it?
Libgen dot is
Google Messages (and I think Samsung Messages) is the only app that supports RCS.
In general, you do have to manually download and install updates. However, some apps will automatically check and download their own updates. Also, if the APK is available on a site such as Github or Gitlab, there is an app called Obtainium that you can use. It will notify you when an update is available, and download and install it for you if you choose: https://github.com/ImranR98/Obtainium
People will search for something, won’t see it below a bunch of ads, then go back and make a more specific search so they can be served more ads.
This worked, thank you!
I get “Could not find a suitable release” when I try to add it to Obtainium on my Pixel 7 Pro
You download and install the APK file. When prompted to allow your browser to allow installation from unknown sources, you grant the permission.
I have a Pixel phone, but I don’t use a custom ROM on it. I still depend on some Google services and apps for school and work.
I use NextDNS to block ads system-wide so I would probably stick with Vanadium instead of Cromite just to save memory. However, I would still use either Mull or Fennec F-droid as my main browser on mobile.
I use https://searx.be/ with both Google and DDG results enabled. Otherwise if you want something like Google results you would have to use Start page, although they pay Google for access to their search so you would be indirectly supporting Google.
