Games@lemmy.world•Game franchises you like, but wish were another genre of video game?English
4·4 days agoYup. I love the lore and atmosphere, fun in archipelago for randomizing, i like the campaign and co-op modes a lot. But since I won’t give blizzard any money it’s nice that they just gave up on the IP for whatever reason
Fuck, that knowyourmeme page has some funny examples

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Scam Altman says it’ll take another year before ChatGPT can start a timer. An $852 billion company, ladies and gentlemen.
19·9 days agoI don’t think so, and I’m on the Ed Zitron train of thought why not.
The financial instruments got a bailout in 08, because the economy itself would stop functioning. That’s different than the stocks would drop. Also, there’s like nothing to bail out? OpenAI and their ilk are just sucking down capital and returning nothing. Even if they get one bailout, they need a continuous stream of unlimited money forever? I don’t think it’ll happen.
I hope I’m right, cuz damn that shit is cancerous
But New Zealand is real?
Yeah, I don’t buy it

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Should MAGA have separate bathrooms so they can't be around women and children?
37·24 days agoI mean they kinda wear them on their heads. It’s nice to have them self identify as someone you don’t wanna be around
In the US especially. It could be a cardboard box.

Games@lemmy.world•Today’s layoffs (Epic Games official post)English
851·24 days agoSince it’s a thing now, I should note that the layoffs aren’t related to AI. To the extent it improves productivity, we want to have as many awesome developers developing great content and tech as we can.
For example, in the U.S., they’ll receive paid coverage for 6 months. We’ll also accelerate their stock options vesting through January 2027 and extend equity exercise options for up to two years.
As much as I hate Epic, those are both better paragraphs than I expected. I feel for the people getting laid off, hopefully they land on their feet
Oh yeah, to be clear, it’ll break incredibly old and weak encryption, which is already not that hard to break.
I think quantum will have some cool specific use cases in science and math modeling, but will be over hyped like the AI bubble as a total game changer.
I can imagine so many options. What was her tag?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What does someone say or do for you to consider them intelligent?
4·25 days agoFor me, I find humbleness and the non-decisiveness of knowing there’s a lot to know and understand on almost anything to be a good sign of intelligence.
Yeah no doubt. It can be pitched as solving all the world’s problems immediately, and fear mongered as “breaking all security instantly”. There’s no defined end product yet, so the goalposts can move.
Like AI, it can be a test of the debt market more than of tech

3·27 days agoWhat? I spent $0 on gas for a car in 2025. The vast majority of my city spends very little or no money on gas. The price 10x’ing doesn’t affect people anyway near as much as most in the US
Edit: idk it’s just weird to defend skyrocketing gas prices
Double edit: ah I looked at your post history nevermind lol I don’t think we have much common ground in general
frank@sopuli.xyztoShare Funny Videos, Images, Memes, Quotes and more @lemmy.ml•And it's just been three weeks
51·27 days agoYeah but like, in the US you have to use a lot more gas to do your daily life than most Europeans do. Not only with bigger vehicles and faster speeds but like, 25% of my city even owns a car, and half of them are electric.
So gas prices are one thing but the spend on gas is another

Man the onion-style articles are gonna hit hard for that one
