I also use Navidrome + Symfonium. It’s a great combo.
From what I’ve seen, there’s no real performance difference with a gaming distro. What they tend to offer is an out of box experience that is more tailored towards gaming than a regular distro (think ‘game mode’, Steam, Proton, and maybe Lutris pre-installed, Nvidia drivers if you need them).
Looks good! Checking out Ymuse now…
Is this on Arch? I have to assume no because you didn’t say… ;) I’ve been thinking about trying out Hyprland but unsure if it will jive with my Fedora system.
Moussaka
I’m running Pop! OS on a Surface Pro 5 and it works pretty much flawlessly with the Linux Surface kernel installed. That said, 99% of the time I’m using it with the keyboard attached so I haven’t done much testing of it in ‘tablet mode’, nor with a stylus.
Not BBC but tangentially related, I enjoy the rolling stream of old crime and mystery radio plays that Audio Noir does. Worth checking out.
I’m the admin. Why? Because I enjoy doing, it’s in the spirit of decentralisation, and I didn’t want to risk being part of an instance that defederates from leftist instances like Lemmygrad or Hexbear.
I’m sure there’ll be plenty of others who do the same. Really odd decision.
I do love Uptime Kuma - using it for my own instance services at status.leminal.space
Are you checking with a simple ping, https request?
I moved my instance to object storage because the pictrs storage got out of hand pretty quickly! It’s not really sustainable at block storage prices.
Lemmy can certainly be used like an old school forum with federation disabled in the settings. The developers even made a phpBB-like front-end for it: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmyBB
Thanks. I can’t take credit for the design though because it’s using the vaporwave theme that comes with Lemmy as a base with some modifications.
Given I haven’t advertised it anywhere, I’ll take this opportunity to shamelessly plug the open instance I run: leminal.space.
The default theme’s a bit quirky, but you can change that in your settings if it’s not your bag.
I self host speedtest-tracker for this.
