Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•I saw your face in a crowded place
4·25 days agoHonestly I miss early AI.
I miss the ugly art. I miss the weird tangents. I miss Will Smith eating spaghetti and consuming himself.
I know you can set up a quick AI to relive this… But it was better when it was the norm.

6·27 days agoThat’s what happened in Cyberpunk. Internet became garbage because of rogue AI.
You get 10+ texts in a row?
I usually respond in paragraph form and then as they’re typing a reply, I panic and ghost them for another day.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Question: Is there a Self Hosted Discord like app?English
3·1 month agoFive years ago, a open-source project I worked on moved to Zulip (from Slack) and it was a small hurdle. But after a month, I really like it!
So much that I’ve pushed a few other open source projects (who lived on Discord).
I was really surprised when I started a new job two years ago and THEY used a self-hosted Zulip. It’s everything Im used to on Slack.
Discord has team speak/video sharing, which I don’t think Zulip has. But then again, we use something else for video calls.

3·1 month agoWhat was the problem with Zulip on mobile did you have?
I only use it for text chat, so I’m curious.

2·1 month agoIt does lead to slippery slopes. First, it’s to block “adult content”.
Then, they’ll consider certain topics “adult”. News about current events? LGBT content? Video games with some violence in it?
Facebook is an example of this slippery slope. And for parts of the country, they do need to scan an ID.

Nextdoor is full of morons sharing their ring videos and then going, “Well my videos aren’t being shared online to Amazon because I checked the ‘privacy’ settings.”

39·1 month agoFor things before 2023, there was sexual harassment (multiple) bullying and hostile workplace and their excitement over NFT. They had a boys club and made it a really toxic atmosphere, where the CCO literally said “Women don’t sell”.

7·1 month agoThe best way from my perspective is to show them.
At tech events and meetups, I’m showing them Linux.
When my friends come over, I show them my self hosted solutions on a Linux.
At work, where we use Macs, we talk about open-source, including Linux.
