I wish people knew this wasn’t a word.

Literally all words are made up. There isn’t some cosmic rule that says words have to be a certain way.

This means that as usage changes, new words are born.

Dictionaries recognize this better than the people who worship them. Dictionaries are descriptive, not prescriptive. Their job is to help people understand one another. Which is why the word “podium” in many dictionaries has a North American added definition for “see lectern.” Because when people in North America say “podium,” the usually mean a lectern. So now the word podium also means lectern.

So if enough people use “everytime” with sufficient frequency, it will enter dictionaries. Just like “anytime” did after people started using it in the 1800s. Same with “everyday.”

Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t recommend using non-standard vocabulary in a formal setting, like an article or a paper or some technical document. But Lemmy posts are informal.

Edit: Also, for what it’s worth, I frequently offer corrections for spelling and syntax. Just…this type of vocab isn’t worth correcting (in my mind anyway).

I doubt it. Regardless of the current stage of machine learning, everyone is now tuned in and pushing the tech. Even if LLMs turn out to be mostly a dead end, everyone investing in ML means that the ability to do LOTS of floating point math very quickly without the heaviness of CPU operations isn’t going away any time soon. Which means nVidia is sitting pretty.

  • You can run Stable Diffusion locally on a lot of hardware. Even the iPhone, surprisingly.

CivitAI.com is a good site for free SD generation, but it’s A: sometimes buggy and B: absolutely full of porn. But by default it’s filtered and there is a lot of good SFW content there. This is also a good repository for models for SD.

Mage.space is also good for SD, but it costs money to do anything beyond the most basic generation. I haven’t used it in over a year, so I don’t know what it’s like now, but it was a really good UI. Just couldn’t justify the cost since I can generate locally and for free on CivitAI, especially given that I only generate like, a few images when someone says something I think would be fun to try. And then go a long time without. I’m not creative enough to come up with the really good prompts I see from some people.

  • I’m not saying the open and affirming churches don’t fight for causes and social justice.

I’m just saying that they’re not the ones running governments and controlling rural populations. Those people don’t want to hear it. It’s just like how they abandoned Fox News for Newsmax and OAN when Fox called the election for Biden. To them, religion is a source of validation, not something to emulate or follow. They don’t want to be challenged.

There was an article a while back about a pastor who said someone in his congregation argued with him about something he said in his sermon, which had been Christ’s own words. The congregant said, “That’s not Christian, it’s too weak.” Or something to that effect.
