Could be the start to a fruitful “leave or stay“ discussion.
That’s correct. Me neither.
Which continent would central american countries then belong to?
To answer OP’s question, I’d say that US citizens are being referred to as “Americans”, because the name of the country is “United States of America”. Every other country on the north or south American continent has its own distinguished name, which can be used to refer to its citizens, e.g. “Canadians” or “Mexicans” etc.
I just realised that, so my comment makes no sense.

Pretty good summary, but I would object, that “Hamas” is something like a “government” in Gaza. It’s a terrorist group that took control of the Gaza territory and it’s people without ever having been elected by someone (in fact, they are suppressing any kind of election since they took over the power from the Palestinian authorities). They are also using the Gaza population as “living shields” against counter strikes to their terror attacks. Nowadays they also have international hostages, which would make a counter-offensive even more difficult.
A possible - although very unlikely - solution to the conflict could be a de-radicaiisation on both sides and the Palestinians finally overthrowing the Hamas-regime and any other terrorist groups, because those are not fighting for Palestinian freedom, but for some crappy “Jihad” ideas and the destruction of Israel.
Unfortunately this will never happen…
Having said that, the Palestine territory was not chosen arbitrarily, but probably because of the significance Jerusalem has to the Jews, where their ancient kingdom and temple had been.
This map was brought to you by Britain, the great!
I guess they are currently at step 2 or 3…
It’s like thinking about marrying your ex-wife again, just after you went through an awful divorce, that took years to get accomplished, which you had insisted in. It would make you look somewhat stupid and the question is whether your ex-wife would let you move back in to your former house (i.e. the EU). Who knows…
You wanted it, you got it, now live with it!
If you want something similar to Reddit you should try Lemmy. Otherwise Mastodon is (pretty much like Twitter) a fire (shout) and forget principle. Sometimes there are conversations going on, where you can engage in, if you like.
Edit: didn’t even notice, that I‘m commenting this on Lemmy… 😬
I really don’t think that Mastodon needs influencers. It’s just normal people talking about normal stuff. Don’t need any “I‘m so glorious, and here’s my product that will make you think you’re glorious, too” kind of influencers there, thanks!
It worked on me… 😉 Anyway, I am quite happy here in Lemmyworld and this one also does not defederate that much. It’s possible that Beehaw is the little happy island for the people there, and I wish them to remain happy, but I prefer an instance with less rules and less defederation.
Their philosophy and rules were a bit of TL;DR for me.
EDIT: I guess I would be in constant fear of breaking the rules there…
I thought he was a good mayor, making New York better/safer than it was before. But I don’t know too many details about his time as mayor
The whole election system in America is flawed, this “the winner takes it all” system combined with the electoral college, which can turn out to ignore the majority vote is laid out to foster a “them against us” mentality. And before you let the other side win (“bohooo, they are all communists…”), you’d rather give criminal your vote. Coalitions and compromises like in other countries with a “majority system” are not very likely in this constellation.
I have to admit that I still go back to Reddit regularly. There‘s just (still) more interesting / engaging content and more interaction there. Although I would be happy to go „all in fediverse“.
