  • Didn’t know! Were there any responses from the .ml admins?

I also noticed that this post is not available on lemmy.ml, apparently they banned the post. Looks like they banned the OP from the instance.

It looks like admins from .ml ban people who write bad things about CCP and .world admins ban people who can write bad things about US imperialism. They both think that they fight trolls and usually it’s the case.

For example, the banned OP wrote something like “Why, to ban criticism about China more actively?” in https://feddit.nl/comment/10140068 (6 days ago, while the post was created 9 month ago!) which is definitely not okay behavior.

Why did half the world decide SMS needed to be replaced with a proprietary app

SMS is even worse in terms of openness. You won’t find a modem that runs open source baseband firmware. It’s because the radios are subject to several regulations which means customers can’t be able to modify that firmware.

    HotA is awesome!

But the best way to play it is to use VCMI. It’s an open source re-implementation of the original game for the modern hardware. It also have a built-in launcher which asks you automatically download HotA or WoG after the first start. You can also install other mods from it. So convenient.

I think you can find some jerks in any community, it’s people. But I doubt that GNU/Linux enthusiasts hate people for using Windows in general. I personally a GNU/Linux user and I never hate people for using Windows.

It’s just like Reddit - they have more content, but we prefer Lemmy because of freedom. And we hate Reddit (and spez), not it’s users.

  • I daily drive GNU/Linux on my Phone (PinePhone Pro), I would say it usable, but Android is way more practical.

Also not a lot of devices can run GNU/Linux and have fully functional HW due to missing drivers. And only 3 phones of them can run mainline kernel.

Waydroid works fine, I use it for banking apps, but it’s a bit slow on my specific device.

  • Are there maybe reasons for it? Sure, licensing expensive but pointless Gorrilla glass and other such non-sense does rise the price

I think the biggest reason is more powerful hardware. More expensive glass sure contributes to the price, but I don’t think it’s much.

but it doesn’t change the fact that the PPP is vastly overpriced, while the PP was originally not (these days it is, but that’s just because it still has the same price as half a decade ago).

Braveheart edition was released in 2020. In this year you could buy Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 for $140.00. It’s so much better deal the PinePhone. GNU/Linux phones are always overpriced due to the reasons I mentioned above.
