  • My grandfather died in the 80s, 20 years later my grandma got a boyfriend, a widower similar to her age, so both in their mid 70s. She once said that she thought she would be alone for the rest of her life and never thought she would be so in love again.

They never married but had 15 beautiful years with each other. What I’m saying is that it’s never too late to find happiness, no matter what that might entail.

  • Well regular soldiers also get hired to do that, the big difference is the employer, as a regular soldier you’re employed by the state, as a mercenary by a private entity.

In war they are more or less treated the same under the law, they’re counted as regular combatants.

Mercenary business is always at least a little shady, since they often get used for shady stuff.

…yes, educating your children on how to have safer sex is a good way to prevent the possible pregnancy you clutched your pearls about in your first comment.

Or you could go the puritanical way, not educating, just condemning, pushing the teens to have unsafe sex in an unsafe environment, too scared to trust you and ending up in the scenario you yourself created the perfect conditions for - an unwanted teen pregnancy.

Orbital mechanics can be a bit counter intuitive.

To raise an orbit you need to speed up, but your overall orbital speed will decrease, since the distance grows the higher the orbit gets. So you’ll need to speed up to reach escape velocity to escape Earth’s gravitational pull, once you managed that, you enter the orbit around the sun. To lower an orbit you’ll need to lower your speed, while your orbital velocity will increase, since the orbit gets smaller.

The “fuel” of a space craft is measured in Delta v, which describes the ability to change the velocity of the vehicle, the unit is m/s or km/s To reach a low earth orbit you need around 10.000 m/s Delta v, if I’m not mistaking another 9.000 m/s to escape velocity, then you’re in a sun orbit, I don’t know how much you need from there, but id say at least another 15-20km/s

You can look up escape velocity which is the velocity required to exit a gravitational body completely.

That’s also what makes getting to the sun so difficult. At first you got to speed up to escape velocity to escape the Earth’s gravitational pull, then you enter an orbit AROUND the sun, where you will have to slow down by a lot to lower your orbit enough to get into the sun. Miscalculate and you’ll fling yourself out of the solar system.
