  • I’ve been using ecosia for the past 3 or 4 months now and it works really well, especially if you’re googling for information. Feels like going back to the old internet, where you actually get some real sources and websites you don’t see around anymore. If I’m searching for something scientific I can actually get the whole study rather than some awful summaries of the study that leave out important parts.

On the other hand if I’m looking for restaurants or placss to eat or stuff like that Google is still a better source because you can link to the map easily and the functionality is just a bit better still.

  • Actually no there isn’t. Black voters voted in majority for kamala. Even Latinos voted majority for kamala. She lost some percentage points with those groups, but by far and away white men and women voted for Trump, not for kamalcanif your only recourse in each election year is to hope you get enough black and brown voters to win you the eldtion, then maybe don’t alienate all those voters and tell them their concerns don’t matter for a year before the election.

It’s almost like a bunch of colonizing powers came in and stole all their money and material wealth and usurped their country’s political system and beggared all the people and then they didn’t have the money time or motivation to protect the artifacts while they were all starving or being bombed

  • Was back when I was 19 or 20, was hanging out with my buddies from home over the summer while on break

We were at a McDonald’s at 1:30 or 2 am. Kid around our age comes screeching into the McDonald’s parking lot, going over curbs and everything, sparks flying from two wheels. He had punctured both his front tires and was riding on rims. Turns out one of my friends knew him - he takes a look, looks at the guy, goes “yo man, you probably don’t wanna drive on those”

Kid goes “yeah well I really want McDonald’s I’m gonna go home after”

My friend goes “you live about 15 min away, you really shouldn’t drive.”

He gets his shit and starts driving, sparks still going off. Were a little concerned so we follow him. 200 feet later he gets pulled over, so we pull over behind the cop. The cop looks at us and goes “do you guys know this idiot?”

    My buddy’s like yeah…

Cop says you should get him in your car.

Kid refuses. Drives 8 miles home in rims. Smoke everywhere, most awful sound you’ve ever heard. We follow him home, I find out he’s dumb rich.

We go into his guest house, which was bigger than all of our actual houses, smoke one, then leave.

  • That is of course a possibility and we cannot discount it, but I think it far more likely that we wipe ourselves, and in addition a ton of other life off the planet, but there will always be some that survives. Same way that when the dinosaurs died mammals came up. Maybe they won’t be mammals. Maybe some other form of life, but it will most likely exist after us. And once we are Gone and not constantly throwing more planet warming and toxic gasses and toxic materials out into the world, the earth will slowly correct itself and disseminate that.

Right now our feedback loops are occurring because we are not really changing anything in what we do.

I commute 5 hours a day for work, and have to go in 3 times a week. I take the train now, but still have to drive 25 min to the train station. Taking the train takes exactly the same time as driving to my job. Which by itself is ridiculous. Up until recently, the option of taking the train in was not available. So I spent 5 hours in my car. The price difference between moving closer to work Vs living where I am right now is almost 2.5k a month. I don’t get paid enough to pay 48 to 52k a year in rent. I work in cancer research. The jobs are in the city, not outside. So I don’t have a choice, because every company that does what I do is in the city, and doesn’t do remote work.

I have a feeling you don’t really understand how things work for people sometimes
