Games@lemmy.world•Over 50% of game developers now think generative AI is bad for the industry, a dramatic increase from just 2 years ago: 'I'd rather quit the industry than use generative AI'English
411·30 days agoI think you have it backwards. Coding games is complicated, and that’s why AI can’t be used to code them effectively.
I’ve been playing Sekiro lately. While it’s not generally on the top of “immersive games” lists, I find it immersive because of how cool the gameplay makes you feel. When you are just completely focused on timing each parry and reading the attacks of your enemy, it makes me feel like I’m actually in the game doing these feats. Combine that with the fact there are few cutscenes and little dialogue, and I’d say it feels pretty immersive.
You might need to add sudo, OP

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Natalists of America, how do you expect the adults of tomorrow to solve world issues if they have to deal with gun violence?English
4·2 months agoI’m not a natalist, but let’s be real: the number if deaths caused by gun violence miniscule relative to the entire population. That said, 6 out of every 100000 kids die of firearm injuries and is the leading cause of death in children. Gun control is something that need to be improved in the country for sure. I’m just not sure it is a significant threat to “Clara.” A much bigger threat, imo, is the state of education and reliability of information today.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you think of people who CONSTANTLY talk about religion?English
2·2 months agoOK, but being a victim doesn’t make you immune to this categorization. A victim of sexual abuse who rapes someone is still a rapist. Someone who was persecuted for their race who then persecutes others for their race is still a racist. Victims don’t get a “Get Out of Jail” card.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How many of you are actually fine with living in USA or are you planning on moving some where else?English
10·2 months agoNot exactly easy to immigrate to, as you can see from the comment about CRS scores

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How many of you are actually fine with living in USA or are you planning on moving some where else?English
14·2 months agoThis question is asked as if there is an obvious destination. Where do I move? Europe/UK isn’t exactly killing it lately, so that’s out. That leaves Australia and NZ for English-speajing countries, but I know nothing about them. I could move to Japan since I know some Japanese, but the Japanese are not well-known to be accepting of foreigners. The PM is literally trying to limit immigration. So where should I be moving as an American?

Linux@lemmy.ml•my reason why you should use KDE+Krohnkite instead of WMsEnglish
25·4 months agoBiggest con of KDE + Krohnkite (to me) is no text-based config. I really have no desire to pour through the GUI to set up all my keybinds. I’ve tried this setup before, and honestly I mostly like it. However anytime I want to change something I just hate having to click through a menu with my mouse. The search bar helps, but often you’ll spend a lot of time guessing what the devs decided to name a setting. I went back to Sway and have no regrets. Though I’ll admit I wish there was something that was basically Sway with the benefits you mentioned here.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Americans, what do typically have for breakfast?English
7·5 months agoWhole wheat toast topped with peanut butter, sorghum syrup, and bananas. The toast has fiber and the peanut butter has protein. The bananas and the tiniest drop of sorghum add enough sweetness to round out the flabor but contain less added sugar than most cereal.

Technology@lemmy.ml•Comparing a RISC and a CISC with similar hardware organization (1991)English
1·5 months agoI don’t really see how what you detailed in your summary connects to your thesis. How are things like more registers and less cycles for branches related to using RISC over CISC? It reads more like the microarchitecture of the MIPS is better rather than the approach of the ISA.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do gender roles have a stranglehold on heterosexual relationships, or does social media just make it feel that way?English
6·5 months agoI think the real reason you haven’t dated a girl is you’ve never gotten to know any. You wouldn’t think like this otherwise. A majority of couples I know have equal relationships with emotionally vulnerable guys. Your last statement on touching grass fits the bill.
