13·1 year agoI similarly thought this was supposed to be a list meant to help you identify when someone is deploying fringe science. But in the context of the community (sciencefiction) and some of the other comments, I’ve realized that I think it’s meant to be sample signs you could use in a story like at a lab where that kind of “science” was being done.
Hahaha, yeah. The black kids at the summer camp I volunteer for always think it’s funny when I’m chasing them with sunscreen in my hand too. Luke seriously though, y’all, have you ever burnt the tops of your ears?? Trust me, don’t find out.
It works the same way it works for anyone else who is in direct sunlight for too long. Black people can get melanoma too.

Yes, but this looks like a wolf spider. Wolf spiders are yard spiders that run very very fast and therefore are required to stay in the yard. It is the law. There’s nothing I can do about it.

Oh, I know, I’m just joshing you lol. I noticed there’s no sources referenced, but cursory Google research looks like the numbers are relatively accurate. I assume whoever compiled didn’t think to look into cows because people don’t think of cows as being deadly.
And I guess it also depends on the mechanism of death that we’re including in our analysis. I grew up in Appalachia and lived in the Caribbean for a while. My friends thought it was funny when I told them I was more afraid of the cows on the island than sharks. Cows will fucking kill you lol

That second picture isn’t the inside of the blast even though it looks a little inside out. It’s the evolution of the blast a fraction of a second later in time. Those bits sticking out the right and left sides are also sticking out the front pointing toward the camera, giving it an inside out appearance.
That first picture - and I am WILDLY speculating based on my understanding of how a nuclear bomb works - might be the initial triggering blast, which is a conventional explosive like any regular bomb. The second picture might be the first appearance of the actual nuclear explosion which moves faster and is overtaking the initial conventional blast.
Again, take that with a handful of salt. I’m just hazarding a guess.
