The whole point of a dog whistle is so people don’t catch on. It’s not obvious until you know.
Working in hotels has showed me just how unsecure hotels are. There is virtually no security in a lot of places.
South Korea is genuinely fucked as a country. Population decline is going to ruin them. It’s going to ruin a lot in the U.S as well.
At this point I don’t even consider 50 million net worth “rich”. There are 2 classes of people. Billionaires and their cronies, and everybody else.
The Parable of the Teacup
"Nan-in, a Japanese master during the Meiji era (1868-1912), received a university professor who came to inquire about Zen.
Nan-in served tea. He poured his visitor’s cup full, and then kept on pouring.
The professor watched the overflow until he no longer could restrain himself. “It is overfull. No more will go in!”
“Like this cup,” Nan-in said, “you are full of your own opinions and speculations. How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup?”
The Parable of the Strawberry
"A man traveling across a field encountered a tiger. He fled, the tiger after him. Coming to a precipice, he caught hold of the root of a wild vine and swung himself down over the edge. The tiger sniffed at him from above. Trembling, the man looked down to where, far below, another tiger was waiting to eat him. Only the vine sustained him.
Two mice, one white and one black, little by little started to gnaw away the vine. The man saw a luscious strawberry near him. Grasping the vine with one hand, he plucked the strawberry with the other. How sweet it tasted!"
Gaming is uncomfortable now. Back pain takes me out of it. I don’t really enjoy it much when I’m “in” the game either. It’s just meaningless stimulus to pass the hours.
This sounds more like “everyone is on TikTok and Instagram and will only ever be using TikTok and Instagram”.
In what way?
It’d be nice if they didn’t give up in 2 minutes.
It’s okay because it’s an app ☺️ /s
Everything is political. Always has been. Only difference is people’s money is getting affected so it’s unignorable. Mind you when it’s racism, sexism, oppression, genocide it’s all ignorable. But God forbid you get in the way of people’s money.
Because Reddit bans people for talking about politics openly. Those people end up coming to Lemmy to talk about the same topics. Remember you can’t even mention Luigi on Reddit anymore. It’s a website of manufactured consent.
Last therapist I talked to asked me what my problems were. I said they’re personal and I have a hard time talking about them. He essentially said “alright not much we can do then” and ended the meeting. This was after about 2 weeks of waiting for the appointment too. I haven’t bothered looking for another therapist.
They don’t care about me. They care about the money I give them.
Compartmentalize all the horrors of life and it’s great!
Wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of these sites had AI writing all of it
Tranq, also known as Xylazine, specifically causes flesh wounds.
“A high prevalence of abscesses and painful skin ulcers [13] developed over various body parts irrespective of the IV injection site was reported. The mechanism is thought to be mediated by its direct vasoconstricting effect on local blood vessels and resultant decreased skin perfusion [6]. In addition to vasoconstriction, it causes hypotension, bradycardia, and respiratory depression, leading to lower tissue oxygenation in the skin [14]. Thus, chronic use of xylazine can progress the vasoconstriction and skin oxygenation deficit, leading to severe soft tissue infections, including abscesses, cellulitis, and skin ulceration. Decreased perfusion also leads to impaired healing of wounds and a higher chance of infection of these ulcers [15].”
Prohibition in Singapore works swimmingly. But that’s a single city state. It’s much harder to stop drugs from coming into a country like America.
I don’t think anyone should go to prison for consuming drugs. I also don’t think fentanyl and drugs like it should be made any easier to obtain.
San Francisco has spent so much money trying to solve the fentanyl crisis and yet it still persists. I think the problem lies deeper in our culture. Substance abuse is just a symptom of our cultural illness.
My landlord makes 48k a year off where I’m living. I can easily see how he’s making money.
The other half is robots.
