  • Mylar balloons should be outlawed. They get sent free and land on power lines WAY too often. Over a thousand mylar balloon caused power outages are recorded in just Southern California alone in a typical year. The cost of repairing the damage might even exceed the revenue of mylar balloon sales.

Relative to its time, yes, but Sims 3 is peak Sims. It improved on 2 in every way, but the thing they did the best and left out of 4 was the create a style tool, which allows you to make any surface any texture and colour you like. You could have a wooden sweater and metal carpet. No limits. You could make uncanny replicas of most homes, furnishings and all.

I haven’t played the second one, but in the first you were never not aware you are in a videogame. It was a nonsensical labyrinth of gimmicks. It is a 3D metroidvania, almost. It really sucked the life out of the story so I’m in no rush to play the sequel. I’ll be bored and it’ll be on sale one day and I’ll try it.

People eat meat and love animals. Veganism is perfectly healthy and doesn’t require killing creatures just as intelligent and loving as their dogs and cats in order to have adequate and delicious nutrition.

If you disagree passionately with the above statement, like it gives you real feelings of frustration, congratulations, you are experiencing cognitive dissonance.

  • This is Medici, where they speak Interligua, a sort of blend of Spanish, Catalan, French, and Italian and where the world’s largest natural source of bavarium was found. I remember reading about the revolution a few years ago that ousted the dictatorship that got powerful on the back of Bavarium mining. The US was caught blatantly supporting both sides, but the revolutionaries won and now they are a democracy again.

  • Director makes a great film because they want to make a great film. It does so well, Hollywood sees this as a “working formula” and spend millions and millions on market research trying to ensure that they can repeat that working formula again and again. They pass these scripts around to ensure it hits the metrics set out by market research, no one is reading it to see if it is good. Good is subjective, market research is concrete and on paper, connected to profitability.

But movies are art, not fast food. They don’t work like Hollywood tries to make them work. Good movies are made by good movie makers. The Golden Age of TV started by the Sopranos ended when they started telling people like Aaron Sorkin and David Simon to change their scripts to meet market research.
