Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•I'm so old I remember when people would read the newspaper.
2·8 days agoThere is an old guy at the deli near me that reads the paper with his coffee.
I also remember being asked to write about current events in school and had to turn to the newspaper to find something current.

No government can be trusted.
To you know if wechat or alipay work? I need these while traveling. They use QR codes for payment and other services. I wish this took off everywhere as nfc payments are locked into only a few apps.

1·1 month agoThis is true. Spending more for newer A series vs used “higher” end older models is up the how the phone is used daily.

31·1 month agoAt 299 or 399, but at 499?? That’s a hard pass. You can get a used pixel for less and better specs. I get it that people like new, but phone innovation has mostly stalled.

2·1 month agoYou can get a new battery for an older phone installed. I’m just saying this is getting like the car market where buying used is the value leader.
