Yeah when I’d “disable” my right hand I’d have to wait for the weekends or homework that involved writing wouldn’t be able to get done. You did this as an adult? That’s dedication. I think in time anyone could adapt if they had to or could afford to be low-functioning for a while but I always wonder if there’s shortcut steps to start rewiring your brain to not automatically assign tasks to your dominant hand.

I notice lefties. Im right-handed and when I was little and much dumber I wanted to be left-handed. So I did a bunch of weird shit to force it. Stuff like wrapping my right hand up for whole day, trying reverse controls for video games, wearing my watch on my right hand, etc. Some stuff did take, like the watch on my right hand, which ironically made my right hand more dominant. Being a lefty is the club that I was never able to join but think about subconsciously all the time I guess.

I think the 2020 election and the pandemic are largely to blame for some spiraling plummets in our feelings about our system as a whole. Both of these events caused some pretty large divides in our government, communities, and even family and friend units.

War and human suffering were already there. Corporate greed and late-stage capitalism effects were already there, as well. We’re all just critically assessing everything together at this point because some of those divides removed a security net of reliability and trust.

That kid’s gotta be around 11 or 12 now. Wonder how he’s doing.

I think there’s a certain power dynamic that comes with looking and acting older. If you look the same age or younger than your kids, that power dynamic is most likely going to slowly shift. It’d be like if you’re in your 40s working for a guy who looks like he’s in his 20s. While possible, I imagine it’d be a challenging arrangement. Not to mention how your kids would feel about your decision as a parent to take an age reversal pill.

That’s a good point. You kinda lose your kids once you take the pill. On the flip side though, who’s putting who in the nursing home now?

On the opposite end it seemed like there was an inflooding of low quality “FB-type” posts. Non-interesting wedding and new baby in /r/pics followed by hundreds of “congrats!” and a sprinkle of “who gives a shit go back to FB” response posts. Predictable dichotomies once reddit got too mainstream.

This. For now, what I do is join the ones that seem to have momentum with active posting. Eventually one will be dominant and I’ll drop the dead ones.

Yep saw that one and another with a deer eating a bird. So I think there’s new categories for animals now too on what they eat. Instead of carnivores, omnivores, and herbivores. There’s obligate carnivores and opportunistic carnivores. Apparently even pandas would kill for some protein if given the opportunity.

Great explanation of the concept of a food web. Grew up only knowing the food chain as well. Still kind of fuzzy on the rules for direction with certain animal pairs and whether it’s based on predation capability or something else.
