I advocate for logical and consistent viewpoints on controversial topics. If you’re looking at my profile, I’ve probably made you mad by doing so.

It looks like I will be nearly the only dissenter here. I didn’t care for the game.
PROS:
NEUTRALS:
CONS:
CONCLUSION: Meh? I really don’t understand the adoration people have for this game. It’s a mediocre non-combat roguelike with about 3 hour of content they’ve spread over 20 hours. It feels very much like a case of style over substance. This game genuinely makes me sad. I really wanted to like it, but… ugh. It feels like work.
They are? Where? I mod a Community and I’ve never seen anything that isn’t explicitly for Admins that can see them.
For my community ( !actual_discussion@lemmy.ca ) I would adore this as long as it’s available to Mods of the community the downvotes are in and Admins of that instance only. It should absolutely not be visible for normal users.
We are hit with downvotes nearly every time we post a new thread on anything even remotely controversial so it would really help us filter out people who simply downvote to bury the thread and contribute nothing whatsoever to the discussion.
If you disagree, we want to know why and discuss that with you. It’s the entire point of our Community.
Heck, we actively made it a rule to not downvote unless the user is not adding to the discussion, and that it should not be used as a disagree button. People generally ignore this, however.
That or just add the moderator option to disable downvotes for Communities. It would be an incredibly handy toggle.
EDIT: For an example as to why it should be implemented, see this post you’re currently viewing where I give reasons, how it’s been impacting us, some alternatives, and people hit the “fuck you” button with zero discussion and that’s all. This is the problem.
A trash heap where it fucking belongs.
There isn’t a thing that you can put ketchup on that a good BBQ sauce or hot sauce isn’t better on. I will die on this hill.
Well. My child is that age and I very much relate to the protagonist. Was not expecting a gut-punch this afternoon.
One of my favorites short sci-fi stories ever.
Just as an FYI, I’m a mod of the sub !actual_discussion@lemmy.ca
Based on our interaction, I’ve made our new Weekly Thread. You may be able to snag a few more converts… Your post was great and you could always repost it in the thread if you’d care to!
Full Report: Acquired the movie right after we messaged.
My wife was working on our book and about ten minutes in wound up putting it down and watching it with me. This is notable because I haven’t been able to convince her to watch known great movies with me. She will not watch Lord of the Rings and hasn’t found the time to watch Edge of Tomorrow with me since release. She gives no fucks about any Godzilla or King Kong movies. This? Well… the moment the gorilla flipped off The Rock, we were in.
She had a hard out at 11 PM due to work, but requested I stop and watch the rest with her tomorrow. What the fuck kind of magic shit is this?
I don’t know how to describe it. Maybe it’s a bad movie very well told and sold by everyone involved? Everyone was likeable and seemed to be having fun. There were a bunch of solid actors in it we both knew from other things, and (most surprising of all) the comedy actually worked. I’d actually say it was probably one of the best 3 video game movies ever, and I’ve seen all but 2. I know that may not seem like a lot, but… 14 year old me loved Mortal Kombat at the time, so it’s some kind of praise.
The Nick Cage movie “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” (and maybe also Drive Angry) is one of the only other movies in my collection that I consider in this camp. It’s not great cinema, but it’s a really awesome ride.
You sold it 100% accurately, and I really appreciate it!
I can’t believe that you have just convinced me to watch fucking Rampage.
You are correct. I was dumb. I’ve fixed it now! Thanks for letting me know.
Played the OG version with all the DLC and not the Spacer’s Choice version, so take my comments with that in mind:
PROS:
NEUTRAL:
CONS:
DID YOU FINISH THE GAME?: Yup! And the DLC. Though if you’re playing now, just get the new edition since it fixes the XP progression block that I mention above.
CONCLUSION: While it won’t stick with me for years, it was great while it lasted and I would 100% play more in the series. If you enjoy story and exploration, play this. The only things stopping it from being Fallout-level good was the awful level cap and the lack of content.
I do. It’s not enough.
No-discussion downvoters are a massive problem here moreso than any other site I’ve ever used.
Oh man… you’re basically speaking directly to why I made our small community (consider this a personal invite). As I said elsewhere, I find Lemmy actively hostile.
The number of indignant replies and comment-free downvotes we get inundated with continually is… disheartening.
People want content, but actively detract from any content that doesn’t explicitly cater to them. It’s hard to take.
There would be no way for them to gain that knowledge. I could believe that they potentially lost their primary language and spoke a mild amount of other languages that they had picked up by osmosis…
But I am doubtful that they would be able to have a full conversation with a native speaker.
There’s no way the human brain could just conjure up a fully functioning secondary language that the person had no exposure to.

And yes, it does make me feel better.
Now I’m confused… What do YOU call a normal North American muffin?
Like a blueberry bran one or something.
Ah yes, nothing like a nice rum and water.
I truly don’t mean to be pedantic here, but aren’t these nearly word for word the same beliefs Left-leaning people here have about the Right in America?
Maybe if you’re being generous and want to write out the other side of these beliefs you could leave out the descriptors “lazy and weak” and replace them with “psychotic and brainwashed”, but other than that, is this meme not the same for Left and Right?
I generally don’t talk about it, but because you asked, I have seen a lot of anime and hate most of it. I have seen Hellsing, Hellsing Ultimate, about 9/10 of the OG run of Fullmetal Alchemist, a lot of Ranma 1/2, Serial Experiments Lain, Akira, some Death Note, La Blue Girl, some tennis one I can’t remember the name of, Castlevania, a few Studio Ghibli movies, Attack on Titan S1 & 2, random episodes of Samurai Pizza Cats, all of One Punch Man, Interspecies Reviewers, Slayers, some DiC Sailor Moon, some early Pokemon, and a few Dragonball, YuGiOh, Digimon, and Naruto episodes.
I don’t count early GI Joe or Transformers even though they’re technically anime, but I didn’t like those either.
Of those, I liked Interspecies Reviewers, about 1.5 seasons of OPM, 1 season of Castlevania, and Hellsing Abridged (because it’s fucking hilarious).
Here’s a random top 10 of reasons:
