  • Where I live, I would still need to pay for a VPN to use torrents. I’ve been banned from an ISP before for torrenting (thankfully, I had multiple ISPs available for me).

At the moment, I just “pay” legally because I get a few “free” streaming plans from my mobile provider and ISP. Occasionally, I just use a free streaming site if I really want to watch something that’s not available to me. Every once in a while, I try anonymous p2p such as Tribler or torrenting over I2P, but it’s still extremely slow, unfortunately. I’ve never used Usenet, but I think it’s about the same price as a VPN or seedbox would be?

  • I’ve tried a couple rolling distros (including Arch), and they always “broke” after ~6 months to a year. Both times because an update would mess up something with my proprietary GPU drivers, IIRC. Both times, I would just install a different distro, because it would’ve probably took me longer to figure out what the issue was and fix it. I’m currently just using Debian stable, lol.

  • Meh, you can’t disregard the current medical and scientific consensus because it may turn out to be wrong in the future. This is the same thing the pro-fossil-fuel and tobacco organizations used to do. You work with the best information you’ve got.

Even if gayness and trans-ness was a social contagion (I don’t think it is), what would be wrong with that? The argument seems to be implying that being gay or trans is bad.

  • Wages are usually much lower in rural areas (if there are even jobs available), so this still applies. And, as others have said, there’s plenty of pollution caused by farms and factories in rural areas. I grew up in a rural area, and still remember the seasonal smell of cow manure, and the river that was so polluted you could only eat 1 fish per month from it. I also got a check from a class action lawsuit because a waste disposal facility caught on fire and spewed toxic smoke all over a 50 mile radius. And a local factory got caught just dumping toxic waste in the ground.

Yeah, plenty of women are shit people and abusers as well. Sucks that it isn’t typically taken seriously by society.

(I’m not one of those men’s-rights people. The reason abused men aren’t taken seriously is because of harmful gender expectations and toxic-masculinity).

  • Hmm, I suspect the pro-Russian Christian people you’re seeing online are extremely-online people with mental issues, or are a part of Russia’s disinfo campaigns, or both. Most of my family are evangelical Christians, and are not pro-Russia (but, are pretty crazy about other things). Many of my friends and associates are either Protestant or Catholic, and are not pro-Russia. I’ve never seen what you talk about online (I don’t use Xitter, or TikTok), but have heard about some extremely far-right “Catholics” switching to “orthodox,” and still, those people are an extremely-online, extremely small group of people, AFAIK.

IDK WTF you’re talking about with the prison rape shit, but it sounds very conspiratorial and homophobic. I could be ignorant, because I’m not too familiar with Russia’s domestic history, but what you are saying sounds pretty outlandish. However, I agree that religion is often used as a tool of control by the state. I.e. “religion is the opium of the masses.”

Being against lethal aid to Ukraine could be about austerity, isolationist, or pacifist principles, but the politicians blocking the aid have no principles, and often advocate for violence elsewhere.

  • Eh, I’m not sure what position Bezos has now. If I ran Amazon, I’d probably covertly support unionization of the entire workforce. I don’t really care about a luxurious lifestyle, and don’t plan on having kids to give an inheritance to, so yeah, I’d probably just give almost all away and buy a small farm to garden in and work on open source projects or something. Like, that’s my dream. It would actually be really hard to figure out how to give all that money away. Could provide the initial funding to like 100,000 decently sized worker-coops I guess.

Edit: I should say, I don’t think most people care so little about luxury and money as I do. My problem is not so much about people having wealth (though wealth is a limited resources, so that does mean others will not have it), but my problem is what people do to get such wealth. It usually involves deceiving your network of associates and exploiting your employees. I do not think most people would be ok with forcing their employees to shit in bags.
