Yes! We should feel bad! Unfortunately, there are people who think what that asshat does is awesome. My mother, who I won’t speak to because two of the ladies in her sons’ lives are now at risk. Fuck these people. They are selfish and frightened and they externalize their fear.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Star Wars and Jurassic Park music composer John Williams, aged 94English
22·10 days agoImmediately thought he must be dead. I was just saying to my partner how awesome the JP music is while we watched whatever the new piece of crap (but entertaining) thing was. Great music. Some of the best.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•I'm new around here, and learning about all the different instances and the culture/history behind them has been fun but overwhelming. Is there somewhere I could go for a crash-course?English
6·11 days agoOr just stick with an instance that doesn’t block others and judge for yourself. I thought Hexbears were descent people experiencing crisis as we all flooded in.

As a hobbyist electronic musician with two decades of experience and also a really nice home theater system, I can confirm that this is accurate.
I mean, I’d have expected at least some acknowledgment.
I woke up at 3am after seeing Nine Inch Nails last night because I didn’t take my (prescribed) sleeping pills. I drank a LOT, but I just don’t stay asleep. I’m tired! I just can’t stay asleep. I’ll be close to falling asleep in several hours when I’m trying to pretend to work. Sucks.

52·1 month agoComputer people (like me) buy Mac minis, frequently as an extra device. Regular people who don’t care about computers beyond wanting a nice one buy laptops. I believe it completely.

11·1 month agoDespite the hits Asahi took losing two of it’s most prominent devs (one of whom is basically a wizard, as far as I can tell), I expect it to attract more attention than the more expensive devices because it’ll have a much wider potential audience. On top of that, lots of groundwork that was laid deconstructing the M1 and M2 chips means the team isn’t starting from zero, despite differences in the chip.
It’ll take some time, but it’s basically guaranteed to happen and I think sooner is more likely than later.

21·2 months agoMacOS (less with each release). One of the Linux distros that aims to minimize the “Linux” experience for new users, like Mint. There are others that are also good for new users who don’t care what’s underneath. I’ll let others suggest them as I don’t keep track of them all.

Written language. It literally lets us communicate with people thousands of years apart and around the world. Most significant technological development in human history imo.
