Not sure how this relates, but I just read the novel “Lord of Light” where the human founders of a colony planet install themselves as gods and install “pray-o-matic” machines for the populace so they can exchange currency for good karma, which will influence whether they get reborn as a human (because they also created this technology).

It’s a fantastic song, the first time. Then I kept hearing it on Spotify and got sick of it. It has a repeating riff that’s just too much too often. I tried listening to it again just now, and, no not ready yet.
The funny thing is the same thing happened with The Staunton Lick - Lemon Jelly a few years ago, in the same way. And it has a similar but distinct repetitive riff.
More similar to you, there are a few songs I associate with old girlfriends, even if I liked them before bringing them into the relationship, they’re not the same any more.
But on the other hand, my favorite songs from high school or college aren’t my favorite songs anymore either. Everything eventually changes.
I have one friend who only listened to his favorite album a few times, because he never wanted to experience listening to it and not liking it any more. In some ways, I have to respect that. These days I’m typically mobile first, I use JuiceSSH and RevolutionIRC as apps that do mobile versions of desktop tasks quite well.
I am just not sitting down at a desktop or laptop very often these days unless I have to. But I always have my phone, so I’ll use it if I can.
But I’m also not a “power user” so maybe not the target for your site!
