  • I’ll do the first one, fail sometimes, do the 2nd (because I can’t rule out a mistake, sometimes my attention wanders) if I get 3rd, I grab the url of the site I’m trying to visit and go to Wayback Machine (or just say fuckit and close the tab).

I get them a lot, because I stay on a VPN, and I know bots and script kiddies use VPNs and trigger server defense systems. So I don’t mind doing it every now and then. Lately I’ve been noticing it’s just a checkbox most of the time. Check it spins about 2 seconds says ‘congrats on being a meatbag’ and loads the page. I may be paraphrasing.

  • My experience has been bad tasting food or past food poisoning puts people off leftovers…

I love leftovers… especially something like soups or lasagna that are better after a day or two.

But if you can’t keep up or tell if something has gone off… then leftovers can be a bad thing if you spend hours chained to the toilet.

My SO was skittish about leftovers, now I’m the standard - if I won’t eat it, it gets tossed. (I have had food poisoning so I don’t have a weird superpower against off food)

  • In college, early 90s, our student IDs had our photo and SSN on it

I’ve operated ever since under rhe assumption anyone and everyone has access to it.

Then with all the data breaches over the last 10/15 years? Freeze credit reports with the 3 reporting agencies for free. Check for extra accounts with the free annual credit report pulls.

For all practical purposes, our SSNs are easily obtained by someone who wants it.

I’m not sure what the solution is, but a unique identifier has to be housed somewhere where in can be accessed in a format humans can read, which means it can be accessed and dumped so it’s no longer private or secret.

I’m not a fan of biometrics, and I tolerate 2FA. I really think it’s more important we change how we think about and use personal, unique, identifiers (like SSNs)

My grandma was born in WV 1919. I asked her a lot over the years (she passed in 2015)

Your great grandma may be different… but keep in mind, she’s human. And if she’s anything like my grandma, she will lie, or more charitably have some false recreations of certain memories.

So asking round about questions to get more details about certain things can sometimes get some interesting truths exposed without her realizing it.

Do not point out inconsistencies in an accusing way!!!

Remember not everything is the actual truth, even if she’s being honest. We are human and our memories are swiss cheese on good days. None of us remember everything with 100% accuracy.

Oh, and ask about her favorite music through the years, or favorite foods. Sometimes sounds, tastes l, and smells can trigger memories!

  • Seriously. I managed a small rock band for a while. We got picked to tour with another band in some clubs in Eastern Europe. This was pre-Spotify, but Facebook strong.

We had no CD sales pre-tour to these places, just some views on youtube. We were relying a lot on the other band.

But the people that came to the shows? They knew the words and sang along and we had a great time.

Someone had our music and shared it before we got there. And we were grateful for those pirates!! And yes, we sold some merch and CDs at the shows.

If not for the pirates it would have been a much different experience with a lot less people showing up.

Our band never “made it” but it was still a successful tour and a helluva lot of fun. In large part because our music was pirated and shared ahead of time.

  • I mean, Kamala is running on policies that would help the little guy. And she might lose to guy who SA’s women and said he could shoot someone in the street.

If she wins and we get a peaceful transfer of power, then I’ll have more faith in your dream.

But right now, it seems like violence is what the masses crave over social reform.

  • I watched a fairly recent youtube video podcast with a traditional porn actor and an onlyfans performer. The actor (cherie deville) talked about all the control she had, regular testing, and overall safety. The OF performer had none of that and basically described her last on camera act that devolved into SA and extortion. From that, I got the impression there is still some ethical porn out there and a lot that’s not since just anyone can create and push content now.
