  • It’s extremely heavy handed about sexualizing the little girls in a way that constantly teases either a romantic or sexual relationship - loli content is very much a commonplace (and tbh pretty gross) thing, but it’s usually the sole focus if its the point. The sheer amount of slice of life tropes that are fit into the show, most if not all of them being taken to an extreme, would be what makes it satire. It’s a common premise, taken to extremes.

My concern with people not recognizing it as satire is a multifaceted thing. The lack of media literacy in culture is a large part of it, the number of people who unquestioningly accept the presentation of women in the show another part, the terrifying loli fans a big big part…

I have no issue with someone not seeing it as satire, I miss things like that all the time, but the sheer number of people who miss it is concerningly indicative of many flaws in society.

  • The problem is that other 10% where I have to spend my time trawling the arch wiki to fix my OS instead of like… doing cool things on my computer. If that’s what you enjoy that’s great, but your hobby is not my hobby. I’ve used arch on several of my devices, it can be great! But there’s this idea that arch is the perfect solution to pretty much everyone’s desktop problems and it’s crazymaking to see repeated over and over on here.

The cultural backlash comes not from ‘pronouncing things correctly makes you sound educated’ but because people that do this are adopting an accent for one singular word, and that is often perceived as them attempting to imply some connection to that group/culture that they do not have.

Americans, white Americans especially, have essentially no cultural heritage to draw on. It’s why we latch onto things like a grandparent being from Ireland and thence go around calling ourselves Irish-American, or the confederate stans. People with a rich cultural history are generally viewed as extremely interesting, too, so when another american adopts characteristics from a culture they have no real connection with, it’s perceived as a deeply tacky attempt to gain social clout. Its akin to being presented with a lesser form of weaboo.

(to be fair, this does happen with the perception of educated people too. “Use real words” and all that, so you’re not really wrong just a bit wide of the mark on the particulars)

I know many many artists, and none of them would resist an offer to do what they’re passionate about in exchange for lots of money. Or to do what they’re not very passionate about in exchange for lots of money. Or even something they downright hate doing, in exchange for lots of money. Having lots of money means you can invest in those things you are passionate about.

  • My partner was in the top 99% 1% of performers on onlyfans for several years (according to onlyfans’ metrics, which actually are surprisingly accurate since it involves reporting financial information). At the peak she was making about $150/month. It really drove home that the number of people who actually make any substantial amount of money on any platform like this is shockingly low.
