The only thing I don’t like is the short summer and long winter but I try and convince myself that it’s the 4 distinctive seasons and the shitty winter that makes me truly appreciate summer. It’s also good for the human character which probably partly explains why we’ve been voted the happiest country in the world who knows how many years in a row. It may be less true now but it’s still in our genes; in the past you better be nice to your neighbour because once the winter comes and food runs out, your life may depend on them.

Same with my early-2015 model MacBook Pro. My only Apple product. It just works, what can I say. I’m basically waiting for a reason to switch to the Framework laptop but we’ll see. By using Lemmy we’re already filtering out certain people and opinions. I personally think that the more control we have over what we see, the better. I don’t think it’s opposing views people want to filter out. It’s the ones having those views and being dicks about it.

Unavoidably so but then again, going sideways because of a downvote is just more data on who you might want to block.

It’s not the people whose opinions I disagree with who I usually block. It’s people making snide comments like this while fishing for upvotes. I’ll reserve my attention to the ones who have something to say rather than ones just wanting to make noise.

If this mean we’d be able to see who has up- / downvoted a comment on our own and possibly on other people’s posts then I’m all for it. This would be highly useful at filtering out the people here I want nothing to do with.

It’s been nothing but politics and memes (often about politics) since the first day I joined. I can only imagine how bad it is without my content filters considering how bad it is even with them.

I call it a “perfect moment” and I try to make a mental note when ever I experience one so that I’ll be more likely to notice the next time it happens. It’s most often in the nature for me as well.
