Fediverse@lemmy.world•The fediverse Goodreads alternative: BookwyrmEnglish
8·2 years agoYeah. It is kinda “lacking” in the terms of reviews. But for each goodreads people that join, the more reviews and books we get, as you can import your goodreads library. And knowing the fediverse, it won’t be that long, I hope ;P

6·2 years agoLol, yeah. It can be a little lacking for now, but knowing the fediverse, it won’t be long until it also gets populated!

5·2 years agoLol yeah. Would be nice. But I’ll bet ya we’ll make an instance for it whenever it gets made :P

16·2 years agoBookwyrm is specifically made for booksharing and book reviewing. While lemmy is more general. For instance, this is a link to the “a game of thrones book” https://bookwyrm.world/book/8138/s/a-game-of-thrones. Here you have reviews of the book. You can also add that book to your “to read” list aswell.
Great job guys and other contributors 😉👏

3·2 years agoOh sorry, didn’t see that 😅
much in the same vein as lemmy-status.org
I was also thinking that an opt-in or something similar would be nice. As overloading small project raspberries with a large monitoring website wouldn’t be that nice…

3·2 years agoThere does exist something similar to this: https://lemmy-status.org. It will eventually have an automatic list, but it is not implemented yet. They are currently adding instances in manually. The owner is @jelloeater85@lemmy.world, one of our infra people at lemmy.world. The website is not connected to lemmy.world by any means btw.
I’ve recently moved to Kubuntu, and I think it’s great for a first time distro. It’s kinda like the fediverse, you can find whatever suits you after some time. I installed it on a separate SSD M.V2, and that works great for me. I do recommend having it side loaded with windows, so that you can still access it :)

Allright. Good luck 😉
How does the directory discover communities? As, for instance, this community (!fediverse@lemmy.world) does not exist in the directory.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•New posts keep auto popping up on lemmy.world without refreshing [Edge]English
1·3 years agoI think that is a problem with the current back-end version of Lemmy (0.17.4). I belivie that this is fixed in 0.18.0, but Lemmy.world has not been able to upgrade to it, as it is, presumably, badly optimized for larger Lemmy instances such as Lemmy.world.

General Discussion@lemmy.world•Honestly what's stopping me from using lemmy more is still the lack of any good front page sortEnglish
1·3 years agoAs @ConTheLibrarian@lemmy.world says, 0.18.x wil fix this issue, but it is not optimized enough for larger instances such as lemmy.world. You can also sort by the top of the day, week, month, year, and all posts.

Adding this to the sidebar :)

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Isnt some sort of Crypto Communities present?English
1·3 years agoI don’t think they have become the most popular thing on Lemmy. But there exist communities for crypto currency. Just use the search function and search on all federated instances :)
Edit: https://browse.feddit.de/, an easier way to browse communities.

I think there is one on f-drpid. But using the website as is works great on mobile aswell.
