  • My mom led horror movies but was too scared to watch them alone.

For some reason she thought kids don’t really remember things until around 6 years old.

So with her I watched hellraiser, IT, Freddy Krueger, Chuckee, The Thing (Carpenter version), Amytiville horror, Pet Sementary, Alien, the exorcist, and some others when I was 4 and 5.

Only ones that really freaked me out as a kid was Chuckee, and that hellraiser movie where pinhead comes out of a screen specifically (the third hellraiser I think?). Alien and Amytiville were my favorite ones.

  • Yes Prep Southeast campus (charter school does 6th - 12th grade).

The school decided to experiment with separating the boys and the girls in 6th grade.

The result was the 6th grade boys started a secret fight club with money involved in the restrooms, and some high schoolers were managing it. It was found out after a boy’s head broke a sink.

The girls got very slightly better grades though.

Other than that, the usual also happened; corruption, fraud, teachers doing pedophilia and ephebofilia, etc.

  • I sometimes wonder how much of that culture is influenced by biology. In many other animals, it’s a survival mechanism to feign you’re doing fine even if you’re injured or sick, because otherwise predators will target you and it’s harder to find a mate.

I wonder if traces of that still linger and, due to our much more complex social structures and high intelligence, it’s displayed culturally the way it is.

  • Kodi / Libreelec are in the same vein as Android TV. There extremely neutered operating systems that can basically only do that one thing, so if they failed at it, well…

You can really edit documents, run YouTube with a decent UI, possibly use sponsor block, can’t do video game streaming.

Actually, I take it back, Kodi etc are more limited than Android TV on the Pi, since at least that supports Steam Link and Moonlight streaming.

So yeah, like Android, it can play the video. But it can do anything else like if I were to run any actual distro.

  • That’s extremely useful to know about yt-dlp.

I’ve only ever used it to download videos permanently fire offline viewing when traveling. I never knew it could work as a temp cache as well.

I’ll probably make a comment linking comments here with good solutions soon.

Ask that’s left is to figure out a decent IPTV program. Really liked Hypnotix but it seems it’s just too much for the Pi
