If you can afford it, just get a MBA and try to get a business job. It may not be the most exciting career path, but it’s at least pretty guaranteed to get you a job that pays decently (of course salaries vary widely but this is one of the paths to least resistance) and opens up a ton of opportunities.

Again, this is advice for if you don’t have an alternative career parh that excites and motivates you. It’s just a decent way to get a decent paying (or even well paying) job. Better than nothing.

For me, a job is just a way to pay the bills and build wealth with the hope of retiring early. I get my satisfaction from my hobbies and family, not my job.

It sounds weird, given that 1994 was like 30 years ago, not 130 years. I’d personally say “late 90s” rather than late 1900s. If i was referring to the 19th century, then yea I may say late 1800s for 1894. There isn’t anything wrong with it, it just sounds weird and makes a lot of people feel old as shit. Most people would say late 90s I think. I feel that you’d get a weird look if you referred to 1994 as the late 1900s in casual conversation.

Far Cry 1 is the best one! It was made by crytek, the same studio that did Crysis. I still occasionally go back to replay that game. It’s really fun.

They’re other popular router firmwares. What do you mean how does that change anything? I’m suggesting them because they may have a wider list of compatible models.

Does it need to be openwrt? What about tomato or asus-merlin? I think any of those should work, no?

I think most consumer routers let you flash firmware. I believe certain Asus ones do, but obviously just validate that before buying it. OpenWRT has a list of supported devices you can check.

I just figured that if you’re doing network stuff then you’d likely want to use something other than the ISP router as those track your activity more (this is a privacy community after all) and lock many features you may need.

Can you just get your own Router and use that instead of the ISP one? Then you can flash whatever firmware you want on it and you can run the openvpn/wireguard client at the router level. You won’t need to combine the Pi with it.

Cool thanks! I ended up buying a hiby r1. It was pretty cheap and allows up to 2tb of flash memory. It’s a little janky but seems to work well overall. It also appears to support higher bit depths/sample rates than the ipod does. I already had all my files properly tagged so everything showed up correctly sorted. I was even able to get my playlists from foobar transferred over without issue.
