I’ve been successful in replacing built-in batteries in 2 different phones. Granted my families phones are all > 4 years old so maybe it’s gotten much harder lately.

Agree. My jeans have been wearing out at the knees within a couple years and I’m middle-aged so I’m NEVER on my knees for more than a few seconds. Apparently they’re averse to bending. 🤨
As far as vim goes I’ll say it’s not really necessary to learn but it’s a good tool to have in your belt. I once tried to print the manual to vim but noped out after about 100 pages. I’d say learn how to navigate, edit, copy-paste, find and replace text in vim. You could go all the way to do crazy things like running a CLI command from within vim and put the result into the editor but from a desktop environment it isn’t as helpful compared to simply having two terminal instances open.

Can’t find it but I was almost positive there was a trailer for 9 set to this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQRh_koli9E

Pretty sure PWAs can run in the background.

ICE recently lured someone out of their house by claiming to be a construction worker (dressed up I’m guessing) that hit a parked car. 😮💨

Clearly an emoticon/emoji of Iron Man’s chest.

I think a lot of these guides could use more in-depth companion guides to go along with it. Changing your email provider for one is not a simple thing and there are concerns like loss of functionality (Gmail is a good product run by a shit company) and also how to make the process less overwhelming. Some services will give you the option to migrate all your emails from Gmail but maybe you want to start fresh, etc. Then there’s going to all of your providers and updating your contact email. Again, not as simple as signing up for another service.

I mean, yeah, this is the system working as intended: corporations chasing profits and feeling no regrets about burning bridges in the process.

So AI slop doesn’t get generated, just imagine the visual of the Egyptologist from The Mummy holding a GPU, saying, “What have we done?”, while covered in dickflies.
Oh, hell yes! I’ve been looking for something almost exactly like this!

Works wonderfully if you’re profit. The free markets love you and will do anything for you.
Oh, you’re a people? Have you heard of our Lord and Savior profit? If you’re not helping profit then you must be hurting it, therefore hurting the market. We don’t take kindly to the likes of you.

Sometime that code will expire and you need to alternate to sudo dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sda bs=4M. Works most of the time for me.

OHHHHHH, so when kids toys are talking nasty it’s the PARENTS that need to be on alert, but not so much when THE PARENTS hand their kids unrestricted and unmonitored smartphones to seek out adult material on explicitly labeled adult websites! 🖕🤬🖕

Even as a tech savvy person I’ll admit it’s a bit of a problem to “take your toys and go home”. Google purposefully made themselves an integral part of most of our lives so it really is about as involved as moving homes when it comes to migrating away from Google.
I would just say that moving one service is better than moving none of them. It’s a slow process but it is doable. I’d say email is easiest to start with. I haven’t converted any accounts yet (i.e. using my new email as the username) but for any new accounts I’ve been using my new email and occasionally closing accounts associated to Gmail. There’s probably a ton of services you’ve signed up for but never use so closing is way easier than migrating.

It’s called prison labor.

The ultimate goal of capitalism is to have an infinite pool of workers, working infinite hours, for $0.

Thanks for the info! I finally got a successful flash!
My biggest issue was getting the firmware (slow or broken downloads) and second was not screwing up and trying to flash the wrong firmware (watch out for accidentally changing the sort order 😬).
The phone is now restarted and downloading the latest update (I assume from Samsung since it wasn’t updating on its own before).
Don’t know if it’s planned obsolescence or just laziness but all of my Nintendo Switches have at least a little drift and I’ve bought at least two replacement sets of joy-cons AND replaced just the joystick on one unit (PITA and replacements didn’t work 100% so I store stopped repairing).
